Before the Draw

Usually you cant do anything at the start of your turn before you draw your card but there are exceptions like Hino-Kagu-Tsuchi.

So, if I got hit by Hino and I discard my hand including Night Assailant would the effect of Night Assailant start a chain immediately or would it wait until after I drew?

Id guess at it starting after the draw. Hinos effect changes the nature of the draw to have a discard prior to it but the discard would be part of the drawing procedure for that turn.

nothing chainable would ever happen before the draw.

(because you have the right to chain to any chainable effect, you would have to deal with "what happens if i activate this trap/quickplay spell before drawing )

You hopefully mean activate and resolve?! Just to be sure.

Activate and start a chain - link1. Then the opponent can chain with something, etc.

First of all, you are resolving the effect of Hino, which states, "discard your hand before you draw", so the only thing you could do if you had Dark World or Night Assailant in hand, is Draw, then all other effects would be placed on a chain after the Draw.

[EDIT: Martok is correct!] Please read the above judge list ruling and this ruling on the UDE FAQ regarding Magical Blast:

Note that the effect of "Hino-Kagu-Tsuchi" resolves before the Draw Phase, so you could activate the effect of "Magical Blast" after his effect resolves.

Remember the effect of Magical Blast allows you to add a Magical Blast in your Graveyard to your Hand, instead of Drawing a card.

So cards such as Night Assailant, Dark World monsters, Magical Blast, Electric Snake, etc. would apply and resolve their effects before the Draw.

Doc, how does the ruling you posted change what Curtis said in his Judge List post? Dark World Monsters and "Night Assailant" are Mandatory Triggered effects. They will activate and begin a new chain immediately after the current chain resolves. This will happen before you draw for your turn if they are discarded by "Hino-Kagu-Tsuchi". Nothing can interrupt that event. Not phase changes, not step changes, nothing.

"Magical Blast" replaces the Draw for the Draw Phase, plain and simple. The draw happens after "Hino-Kagu-Tsuchi's" effect resolves.

I don't see how that ruling from "Magical Blast" disagrees with Curtis' ruling.

Magical Blast doesn't disagree with Curtis' ruling. It's supports it!

I only quoted Martok to support him, not refute him. I guess that wasn't that clear from my post. I'll edit the reply.

We've all been told in the past that nothing happens in a turn until the Draw Phase begins and the Draw Phase begins with the Draw. Obviously, Hino-Kagu-Tsuchi breaks that rule.
