Big Bang Shot/Opponents Monster

If I equip Big Bang Shot to my opponent's monster, will I take the breakthrough damage or will they?

Not really. I'm talking about this part of Big Bang Shot's text, "When the equipped monster attacks with an ATK that is higher than the DEF of a Defense Position monster, inflict the difference as Battle Damage to your opponent's Life Points". It says inflict the damage to your opponent's Life Points. Thus since I control Big Bang Shot his attacking monster is higher then my defense, then would he not take the damage, as he is my opponent.

It's important to note the FAQ, as was pointed out (which it looks like you missed). Regardless of who Big Bang Shot is equipped to, the opponent will be receiving all of the difference between the ATK and the DEF if the equipped monster attacks a Defense position monster. The card is very literal in its use.

He read too much into the card because he was thinking that if he equipped it to his opponent's Berserk Gorilla lets say that his opponent will be taking the difference in the damage. But this isn't the case because Big Bang Shot is nothing more than Spear Dragon's effect minus the position switch. So he did read too much into the card but if I said it didn't mean literally what it says then I was incorrect on that part.

I already know that you guys, I was just making an example to explain it.

EDIT: Oops, now I understand what Jedi said..xD Had to read it a few times and then read Big Bang Shot's effect. xD

Apparently I wasn't taking it too literal after all =/

Thanks. Sorry I missed it in the FAQ, I only check the rulings on Big Bang Shot in the card registry.

The ruling Digital Jedi posted was #8 from the card registry..btw.

Also, the card registry is pulled from the UDE FAQ, so it usually matches exactly what's on UDE's site.

What if? Either read my earlier post or search the forums for the already extensive and exhaustive answer on the subject matter.

first of all, no need to get mad :)

The other thing to point out is if the monster already had that effect (such as "Airknight Parshath"), equipping a card like this or Fairy Meteor Crush will not go ahead and "double" the effect.

what i meant was:
if i equip BBS to MY airknight offcourse the effect would not be
doubled (what would that mean anyway, you'd break the defense twice, do double damage!?)

but if i equip BBS to my OPPONENT'S airknight then we can't talk
about doubling the effect, because BBS would alter it!
so if my opponent attacked me HE would take the damage and
you would not draw a card.

or does the continuous effect of airknight "overpower" the effect
of BBS?

this is what i meant, and because i'm not sure what holds water
i wanted the matter discussed here.
sorry if i wasn't clear enough before, but i haven't found this
particular ruling anywhere, and the bit about "not doubling the effect" is not clear to me (maybe my bad english  )

Airknight Parshath's effect would be applied; you would receive the Battle Damage.
