Big Core vs Book of Moon

Situation:
My 'Big Core' with 1 counter left is flipped face-down by 'Book of Moon'. I flip summon it during my turn.

Does my 'Big Core' get 3 additional counters?

Thanks

Ben

No, because it has to be specifically Normal Summoned.

Infact you will loose the last counter as soon as it is turned face-down, and and when you Flip Summon it will have 0 counters.

If it battles after that it will be destroyed at the end of the Damage Step.

Well, as far as i can tell [Pitch-Black Power Stone] and [Apprentice Magician] currently seem to be the only way of replenishing Spell Counters.

Of course other than Normal Summoning it again.

LOL!!! Why does everyone forget about "Magical Plant Mandragola"???

Wait a minute.... How many types of counters are there? I naturally assumed that there was only one type, "Spell Counters".

Since Big Core only says place 3 counters..., are you saying that makes all the difference?-

Yes it would.

The wording seems very specific, and considering the text is fairly new, i would agree completely with densetsu_x.

Every effect that specifically uses "Spell Counter(s)" states specifically that.

Yes. I noticed that most every card I have looked at that uses or can have them, states "Spell Counters".

But there are also several instances where we know that assumptions must be made when a card does not state a requirement, like Twin-Headed Behemoth.

When he dies and comes back to the field, it doesnt state how he is placed, but we have been conditioned from several other similar effects to place him face-up, but you could argue that since it doesnt say, then you could also place him face-down.

So since this card only states "counters", is this part of the new phase of just calling Spell Counters (since we have come to know them as such), "Counters", or is this one card different?

Counters is different.

Balloon Lizard
Put 1 counter on this card during each of your Standby Phases. When this card is destroyed, inflict damage equal to the number of counters x 400 points to the controller of the card that destroyed this card.

Ruling #2:
The counters on "Balloon Lizard" are different from Spell Counters.

When you special summon a monster with the effect of a card where the position of the monster isn't mentionned (like "Last Will", "Monster Reborn" or "Twin-Headed Behemoth"), it is always face-up in attack or defense mode, so you choose if the monster will be send on the field in :
- Face-up attack mode
- Face-up defense mode

But to return to the subject, when a monster leaves the field (like with "Interdimensional Matter Transport" or "Call of the Haunted") or flipped face-down (like with "Book of Moon"), the monster is "reset", so spell-counters monsters get 0 spell counters on them.

It is the same story with "Fusilier Dragon, the Dual-mode Beast", if he leave the field or is flipped face-down, he will get 2800 points of ATK even if he has been summon with his effect.

Hope I've helped you with this "reset"-bug.

i had someone say they could use magic reflector to put counters on wave-motion cannon, to count as another turn.....
i had to smack him around til he got it lol

Don't think the counters are considered a maintanance cost so I think you should be able to use Skill Drain to keep Big Core alive so that you don't have to worry about resupplying it, you will lose the indestructability though so it depends on why you wish to keep it alive, if it's just for defence then you could try go with a Spirit Reaper instead anyway.

You only quoted what I already said, if you read my statement CAREFULLY. I said we are conditioned by similar effects so it should be known that we will place it face-up.

But people can still argue for face-down, even though they would be wrong.

Oh, and unless the text has changed (I'm on Dial-up, or I'd check myself), "Monster Reborn" tells you to place the monster in attack or defense (face-up).

Would Pyro Clock work with WMC? since it turns the turn count forward by one??? ( I dont think it does, but now that I am thinking about it I have talked myself into thinking other wise...)
