Blowback dragon

This maybe is a weird and stupid question. My opp summons blowback. I activate bottomless and he uses his effect. He tosses his coin by catching it in the air and lay it on his hand(hope you understand:)). I don't agree with it and I say that he is not allowed to catch the coin. If he tosses his coin, he must let it fall on the table(That's what I say). What should we do? Call a judge...?

For one, when he summons Blowback Dragon, he has priority to activate its effect first before you even respond to its summon (unless of course he has a Spell Speed 3 card, like Horn of Heaven). After he declares his target, then you respond with Bottomless Trap Hole. Flipping the coin and where it falls is not part of the game or is there any rules about it. Generally when you flip a coin, you flip it, let it fall into your hand, then quickly turn your hand over to your wrist with the coin face-down and there you go. Whichever result is the result. There is no real way in going about this. You have your way of doing it, your opponent may have their way.

I can't do that. I used to play a game with my kids, where every time they call the coin in the air, they are right. Basically, I would catch the coin on my fingertips and flip it as necessary to get the desired out come. I became quite proficient at it. consequently, I won't allow myself to "catch" the coin, but let it fall to the table. Problem is, the tables at tourneys are usually crowded and narrow and I go through a lot of coins in a game.

As has been mentioned there is no "official" rules as to the correct way to flip the coin. My suggestion is that if there is to be a coin flip that you agree before the flip on what method to do so.

The way that I've always have it done and do so myself weather I'm judging or playing is to flip the coin and let it land on the table and come to a stop, it also must land and stop on the table (if it lands on the floor, on the chair, etc. it must be reflipped) In this way there is no manipulation of the coin flip and both players can see where it ends up immediately.

My suggestion is that if you can't come to an agreement as to how the coin flip should be done then call a judge over and ask them how they wish it to be accomplished.

I used to know a fellow which stood the coin on the table holding it with his index finger and then flicking it, it whirled and whirled, it was fun to see at least =P

What I ususally do, now that I'm playing Blowback, is that I attempt to flip myself. Sometimes I land on my fanny (tails), sometimes I land on my head (heads). Granted I ususally have a stiff neck, but my opponent gets a good hoot out of it. 8^D

Seriously though, I'm finding the table method to be a bit more reliable since both players can see the outcome without the potential of having it flip wrong. Additionally, I've seen players using silver dollars or other larger sized coins since they can still flip, but have less of a chance of rolling or bouncing off the table.

Didn't somebody have a "dueling coin" that was released as a promo or with some pakcs a while back. That would be fun to use.

As long as people can clearly identify which side is heads and which side is tails then I don't see a problem. HOO HA! :D

ok just a quick question. so when you summon blowback and b4 your opp can activate bottomless.. you can get priority over it with blowbacks effect.?

The problem is, everyone is in a race to activate Spells or Traps that they give themselves away, giving advantage to their opponent on whether they want their monster to be destroyed without activating their effect or going ahead and doing it since they know it will be destroyed.

Sometimes you can cause your opponent to make his own tactical error by not doing anything until they decide.

Other times, player's just take advantage of the fact that "they should ask" when a player summons a monster with an effect and they "don't ask" and just kill the monster and it's up to the player to catch that they didnt take their player priority.

Games have been won and lost by savvy players basically "cheating" their less savvy opponents. Priority really needs to be more advertised WITH a Priority!!!

thanks for the info on blowback

thanks a bunch for that little info on blowback. its one of my fave cards i usually always use. still trying to work kinks out of my deck and every little bit helps..dont have many people to get this help from cause my female friends would consider me a tad weird for saying i liked ygo lol. anways..thanks.

<soft chuckle> Not to worry angel, most of us consider ourselves to be a little "different" around here, as a matter of fact it's somewhat of an insult to most of us to be considered "normal"....who wants to be normal? Normal=average <gag>

I find that there are a lot of closet gamers out there...it's okay folks....come out and be counted! <smirk>

How do you think people view me at the age of 44 playing this game? <laffin> Quite honestly, it doesn't matter. I enjoy the heck out of it and the people involved in it...that's all that matters.

yah its no biggie. i like the game. plus gives me soemthing to do with my older daughter and guy friend. still trying to make a deck without him that way he doesnt know what is in there lol. that way i can beat him on my own and possibly make another tournament worthy deck. just nice to get to talk to other people bout the game i enjoy playing.

Well Texas_Angel, feel free to drop a deck list over in the decks forum and I'm sure you'll get great feedback, the City is wonderful that way.

Blowback Dragon has been a lifesaver for me on more than one occasion in my current Archfiend/Machine hybrid deck. Granted it does come down to luck, but at the same time, I've cleared out a wide load of trap defenses or nasty monsters with a few flips of the coin.

yah ive got one other thing to clarify so i can get it right lol. so basically if you summon blowback or even any of the monarchs..they can chain bottomless to theyre summoning....but the effects of the cards can still resolve right? the person i talked to on a diff place says that you get to resolve your effect b4 they can activate the Bottomless Trap Hole.

yah. im still learning on my own here so im glad i found a place where it seems like most people know whats goin on lol. got ronin and this deck studio downloaded xcept some of the cards dont show up in the deck studio. but still helps give me an idea of the drawing ratio i would get. but as far as getting a theme going thats gonna actually be able to hold its own in a tournament is a diff story at this point. i had a deck once that was doing really well..and friend kinda needed cards so took it apart..and ever since then have not been able to get passed 4th place..and thats been about a month or so also...just the deck(s) ive beengetting need some serious help lol. but then thats the whole point of the game to learn as ya go.

Without straying too much into other territories, did you see the thread in the Deck Studio folder about getting the lastest cards into it? If so and you're still having problems, start a thread over there and we can solve the problem. If you haven't seen the thread yet, go back over to the Deck Studio section and find the thread up at the top, it'll explain how to get the latest cards in.
