Blue-Eyes White Dragon LOB-EN001

Blue-Eyes White Dragon
Normal Monster (Dragon / LIGHT / 8 Stars / ATK 3000 / DEF 2500)

This legendary dragon is a powerful engine of destruction. Virtually invincible, very few have faced this awesome creature and lived to tell the tale.

One of the first and strongest of the signature monsters of the game. He has no effect, but simply is one of the strongest beatsticks you can pull out. Some may say that his usefulness has long since passed. However, there still will always be the joy of pulling out "Blue-Eyes White Dragon" on your opponent and have it wreak havok with whatever defenses they may have. Not to mention that he can trade or win cleanly almost every battle out there. Over the years, he has received a fair degree of support as well to not only make him easier to bring to the field, but to enhance some of his abilities. Plus as a normal monster, he's received some support in the last few sets too (as a way to make them more playable). Lastly, being a Dragon means he has plenty of support too.

Dragons may have their "Emperor" to represent one of the strongest in the game... but give me this "Ryuu Densetsu" anyday...

... plus, name me one other monster in the game that had an entire set named after it.

But can we all agree that for serious play, both cards are subpar at best?

I definetly agree with that. Though I'm determined to be the first DM player to win a tourny!!

and don't forget the new dragon support, Dragon's Mirror. With that just dump 3 BEWD to the grave to summon BEUD with the mirror. Then use Return from the Different Dimension to pull ALL 3 BEWD back to the field and Polymerization them for ANOTHER BEUD. Let them take out the "trash" so to speak then De-Fusion the 3 back to the field for the final face-off of up to 9k damage. throw in a Megamorph and after Return you could REALLY do some damage. Let the natural BEUD and 3 BEWD take out the bunch of monsters they may have then let the Mirror'ed BEUD equipped with Megamorph deal the final blow.

Dumping three BEWD is not as easy as it sounds, without Painful Choice anyhow.

I have constructed a BEWD deck, (probably like most of us on this thread at some time or other) with mixed success.
The problem with BEWD is that he just isnt splashable- it needs decks built around it. Personally I prefer the Paladin route, which is quite feasible with multiple senju/maju/Sonic Birds. And how to keep it alive? Non-Spellcasting Area - normal monsters are not affected by spells. Run the deck with multiple Royal Decree for protection and the only way to take out the BEWD is through attacking it (good luck) or monster effects...

I'm glad BEUD is finally coming Stateside, and happpier since I'm suscribed! And this is the much needed return of the Dragons to Tournament level!!!!

Bye bye to my chaos deck, hello to the scales of my soon Dragon deck!
