Book of Life

The old Netrep file 6.0 says:

If one of the monsters targeted by "Book of Life" is removed from the Graveyard before the resolution of "Book of Life", the remaining monster will still be affected as normal.

So, if I activate Book of Life and I decide to remove Jinzo from the opponent's graveyard, and he chains Call of the Haunted to reborn his Jinzo, I still get my special summon, right?

I know this is the correct ruling, but this file is very old (and wrong about many cards) and a boy doesn't believe me, so I want you to clarify the situation.

Glad to have helped, are you new here by the way? I mustn't havent visit the Intro/Farewell section of the forums lately, but, welcome! :D

Said my welcome back in February, posted a deck back in March in the wrong place (reposting it correctly later) and have since felt quite shy about speaking up on the forums figuring I'd break another rule or make some other mistake in what I say that my best friend skey23 would point out.

In fact I still feel silly for making up a card to help illustrate to myself that either the special summon or the removing from play effect of Book of Life can be considered the last event to have occured. Nobody even commented on it. I tried hard to find a card that would fit the bill, but ended up having to make one up. The Cyber Jar example was much better at illustrating the core concept rather than my attempt to show specifically with the other effect of Book of Life. Now that I think about it, simultaneous logic also helps explain the Cyber Jar vs. Jowgen the Spiritualist ruling not caring whom got Jowgen the Spiritualist or whom was the turn player or even how many Jowgen the Spiritualist were summoned.

Anyhow, love to read the forms silently from my little corner since 9 times out of 10 I can answer my own questions just by doing a little digging into the posts, Ronin, the Judge's list or a combination of those. I only wish I could spend half the day at work with the forums like my friend skey23. :) Thanks to everyone contributing rulings and sparking new ideas!

Well don't feel too bad about having to come up with a unique effect to understand an exsisting one. In reality, your fictional card helped to clarify things. Trust me, don't be suprised if a card with a similar effect comes out in the future. Stranger things have happened.

I feel compelled to comment on what dgutierr has said here.

Most of us are more than happy to help out answering any questions anyone has. That's part of what makes the gaming community is helping each other out. Realize though that anyone who wants an answer will learn much more and remember it better if you do your research before asking the question. I know, everyone is busy, most of the time though you have a day or two before the next tournament and can afford to decifer the ruling, do a few searchs, and dig in to completely research, understand, and relate the ruling to how other or sim. cards work. I really encourage this.

What you'll find is your research will usually lead you to not only answering your own question but most of the time enlighten you as to how something else works. If you just ask a question you get your immediate answer, however, by reading through the complete rulings on a card and a few posts concerning the card or a combo you'll likely learn about additional combos or scenarios that effect the card in question. You may also learn the mechanics surrounding the answer to your question.

I'll stop my "teach a man to fish" rant now :D

personally, I thought the invented card example was a great idea. It helped me clarify things in my head, just as much as the Cyber Jar rulings and stuff.

As much as I might try and research, Im the kind of person that needs things explained 9 ways to Sunday before I start to comprehend. That's why I like the rulings forum here above all others. Not only do I get answers, but examples, and links to other threads and card rulings. And my 9 ways to Sunday.

Now, if I could just think of a question to ask......
