brain jacker question

Team Top Deck
lets say you use brain jackers effect and gain control of your opponents monster. Can your opponent use mst or some other spell/trap destruction to get rid of brain jacker?? Cause Brain Jacker reads as:

FLIP: Equip this card to a monster on your opponent's side of the field and treat it as an Equip Card. Take control of the monster that is equipped with this card. Increase your opponent's Life Points by 500 points during each of his/her Standby Phases.

Now is it treated as a equip spell or and equip card?? cause if its an equip card, mst should not destroy it

The monsters affected by Thousand-Eyes Restrict/Relinquished are Equip Spell Cards equipped to TER/Relinquished. That the monster is face-down is irrelevant. It is still treated as a face-up Equip Spell Card (and can be affected/destroyed by those effects that target Spell Cards). This is due to the effect of TER/Relinquished.
Actually, the face down card equipped to Relinquished/TER is still considered face down for the effect of Nobleman of Extermination.

[edit] oops, slow on the draw.

Whoops, you're absolutely right. Was thinking faster than typing, I think. Was trying to say that it is treated as an Equip Spell Card still equipped to a monster, even though it is face-down.

TER/Relinquished are old cards that in some ways break the rules and game mechanics, as we know it, well maybe that's not the best way of explaining, they change or modify or have their own rules. They are the exceptions to the rules more or less.

just remember the rulebook:
In all cases where the rules in this rulebook conflict with the rules on a Yu-Gi-Oh! TRADING CARD GAME game card, follow the rules on the card.

Equip Cards

An "Equip Card" is any card that is equipped to a face-up monster on the field. Spell Cards with the Equip Icon are the most common type of Equip Card, and are officially called Equip Spell Cards. They are treated as both Spell Cards (They would be destroyed by the effect of "Heavy Storm") and Equip Cards (for purposes such as "Gearfried the Swordmaster".) Other cards may become Equip Cards though card effects, like with "Sword Hunter" or Union Monsters. Whenever a Monster Card becomes an Equip Card, it is treated as an Equip Spell Card, and is no longer a Monster Card. So a "Dark Magician" equipped to your "Sword Hunter" as an Equip Card could be destroyed by "Heavy Storm" but not "Tribute to The Doomed".

Some Trap Cards, like "Blast with Chain", can also become Equip Cards. These cards are considered Equip Cards but are NOT Equip Spell Cards. This means that it is a Trap Card (and could be destroyed by "Remove Trap") and an Equip Card (for purposes such as "Gearfried the Swordmaster".) It is not a Spell Card, and could not be destroyed by "De-Spell".

Found in http://www.upperdeckentertainment.com/yugioh/en/faq_advanced.aspx.

So there is a difference between Equip Card and Equip Spell Card.

Um, just because they "fixed" the Equip Trap ruling to fit the Japanese one doesn't mean that equipping monsters are changed.

Monsters are considered Spell cards if they are equipped.

Proof? I'm sure the new Dark Necrofear will be sufficient.

Oh god ... we are getting into this now?

So now after all this time they decide to change them back to Equip Trap Cards... Only took 3yrs, fast...

So i guess Blast with Chain, Metalmorph, Kunai with Chain etc. are all Equip Trap Cards.
Well why not. Konami seems content on confounding us any way possible. So let's just call all Trap Cards Equip Cards and all Spell Cards Bacon.

Seriously though this is news to me and I think to a lot of us. But like Raijinili said it really isn't changing anything else other than how certain Traps are treated. And there is still no difference between "Equip Card" and "Equip Spell Card" when it comes to effect monsters, just now apparently there are Equip Trap Cards. This doesn't change how Equipped Monsters are treated and this doesn't in any way shape or form make Call of the Haunted or Soul Resurection equips or cause them to be treated as Equips.
