Two questions regarding Call of the Haunted (and similar cards like Release from Stone):

1) What happens when a monster Special Summoned by Call of the Haunted when the monster is flipped face-down? Does Call still affect the monster if it's removed?

2) What happens when they are later flipped face-up? Does Call "re-attach"?

just so we're clear:
here's the list of continuous trap cards that special summon a monster/s (forgive if i missed):
Release from Stone
Continuous Trap

Select 1 of your removed from play Rock-Type monsters, and Special Summon it. When this card is removed from the field, destroy that monster. When that monster is destroyed, destroy this card.

Escape from the Dark Dimension
Continuous Trap

Select 1 of your removed from play DARK monsters and Special Summon it. When this card is removed from the field, destroy and remove from play that monster. When that monster is destroyed, destroy this card.

Call of the Haunted
Continuous Trap

Select 1 monster from your Graveyard and Special Summon it in face-up Attack Position. When this card is removed from the field, destroy the monster. When the monster is destroyed, destroy this card.

Birthright

Continuous Trap

Select 1 Normal Monster from your Graveyard and Special Summon it in face-up Attack Position. When this card is removed from the field, destroy that monster. When that monster is removed from the field, destroy this card.

Fossil Excavation
Continuous Trap

Discard 1 card from your hand. Select 1 Dinosaur-Type monster in your Graveyard and Special Summon it. An Effect Monster Special Summoned this way has its effect negated. When this card is removed from the field, destroy that monster. When the monster is destroyed, destroy this card.

Hysteric Party
Continuous Trap

Discard 1 card from your hand. Special Summon as many "Harpie Lady" cards as possible from your Graveyard. When this card is removed from the field, destroy all the monsters that were Special Summoned by this card's effect.

Miraculous Descent
Continuous Trap

Select 1 of your Fairy-Type monsters that is removed from play and Special Summon it. When this card is removed from the field, destroy that monster. When the monster is destroyed, destroy this card.

Ninjitsu Art of Transformation
Continuous Trap

Activate this card by Tributing 1 face-up monster on your side of the field that includes "Ninja" in its card name. Special Summon 1 Beast-Type, Winged Beast-Type, or Insect-Type monster with a Level equal to or less than the Level of the Tributed card + 3 from your hand or Deck to your side of the field. When this card is removed from your side of the field, destroy the monster.

Soul Resurrection
Continuous Trap

Special Summon 1 Normal Monster from your Graveyard in Defense Position. When this card is removed from the field, the monster is destroyed. When the monster is destroyed, destroy this card.
with all of these cards, if the special summoned monster/s is/are:
  • flipped face down (book of moon, darkness approaches etc.)
  • removed from play temporarily (interdimensional transporter, the monster is strike ninja and his effect is used)
  • if a royal decree resolves or jinzo is special summoned
  • tributed (tribute summon, tribute for cost, tributed for special summon)
the trap card will remain on the field meaninglessly.

when the monster/s is/are returned to a face up position on the field, the trap card will not re-target it/them.

so the trap card is eligible to be returned to your hand (giant trunade) and the monster/s will be unaffected by the trap leaving the field.

But what about trap monsters?

If they are flipped face down what actually happens?
If a Trap Monster is flipped face down, the card is placed vertically in the Spell & Trap Card Zone. This is treated as a Trap Card being Set so it cannot be activated again that turn.

Note the following ruling on Embodiment of Apophis -

• If "Embodiment of Apophis" is a monster, and is flipped face-down, it goes back to the Spell & Trap Card Zone as a Trap Card (vertically, since Trap Cards do not have battle positions). You cannot activate "Embodiment of Apophis" that same turn, because it is a Trap Card that was just Set.
