Im assuming that the deck listed on post 1 is the updated version you are referring to.
I actually liked the original idea you had for 2 Lava Golem, maybe in the side deck this time though, instead of a Great Maju Garzette.
However, more prime to me is trying to fit in 1-2 Skill Drain. You said you prefer a straightforward 1900 Slate over trying to get the 2400 ATK, your only worries are the Mask of Darkness and Magician of Faith, really. Everything else is pretty stoid in the face of Skill Drain. Dark Ruler as a beater is still strong enough on its own. And I love the dilemma someone faces when trying to decide if destroying Skill Drain is worth letting Dark Ruler's effect liven up again.
