Chaos Necromancer IOC-017

Hello all. Next week I planned to make a Post-ban "˜celebration'. I will review total 11 cards, in 7 days, cards that aren't used that much and/or are underrated.

Today I will start with Chaos Necromancer, followed by a review of the Ultimate Insect's tomorrow. Thursday I will review Arsenal Bug, on Friday followed by the Command Knight. Saturday is the day of Granadora, while Sunday will be the day of the Royal Keeper. At Monday, the last day: a combined review, of the Sorcerer of Dark Magic and Horus the Black Flame Dragon LV8 for total field control.

Chaos Necromancer

Monster: Fiend, Dark, Level 1, 0 ATK, 0 DEF, Continuous Effect
"The ATK of this card becomes the number of Monster Cards in your Graveyard x 300 points"

As already said, today I will talk about Chaos Necromancer.
Chaos Necromancer is a underrated guy. Being level 1, no Level Limit "“ Area B or Gravity Bind will stop him. Being DARK, he has a really huge support, and since he tears on the Graveyard, no Trap Hole or Bottomless Trap Hole will stop him.
This guy is VERY useful in the end of the game: when you have got the most monsters in your Graveyard.
With 10 monsters in your Graveyard, this guy has a crazy 3000 ATK points!

You can search him with Sangan and Mystic Tomato, therefore, you can get him when you want.
He will fit perfect in a Chaos Deck (some restitute for BLS-EOTB, lol), since that kind of Deck is already about getting cards to the Graveyard.

The pro's:
- Can be searched with Sangan and Mystic Tomato
- Won't be affected by Trap Hole and Bottomless Trap Hole
- When you have 10 or more monsters in your Graveyard, he is able to beat BEWD and better

The con's:
- This guy is a HORRIBLE topdeck in the most cases

As the finishing touch: I will give a example of a kind of Deck Chaos Necromancer will fit in.

Nice review. If we were to ever get Painful Choice back, this guy's playability skyrockets. As it stands now, it's a good Fiend, but there are better.I've played him before, but never really got the full potential I wanted. Still, an interesting card for sure.
 
I'm curious about the "No Trap Hole or Bottomless Trap Hole will stop him" comment. As a continuous effect he jumps to attack strength as soon as he is summoned so as long as there is enough to strengthen him in the graveyard he will be a target for both Trap Hole and Bottomless Trap Hole.

Kycoo and Chaos Sorcerer are also monsters you don't often see paired up with the Necromancer as Chaos Sorcerers need to remove from the graveyard to be brought out (thus weakening the Necromancer) and Kycoo if Snatched just obliterates this deck.
 
Don't forget that Necromancer can get particularly fiendish, take a page from Goblin King, and use Opti-Camoflage armor quite nicely. I think Necromancer has late game topdeck potential, especially after you've taken a pummeling for a while.

I agree with anthonyj on the Trap Hole/BTH issue. Necromancer will immediately jump due to its effect, so it can be subject to these traps.

Nice review. I like the deck option mixed in this review too.

Well, Dillie-O and AnthonyJ are right here. Chaos Necromancer's continuous modifier will immediately elevate it's ATK, so if you have enough mons in your grave, Trap and/or Bottomless Trap Hole can hit it.

Mm... went looking for similar monsters. Guess you're right. Have a look at the following Rule of the Enraged Muka Muka:

[Re: Bottomless Trap Hole] Use the current ATK at time of Summoning to determine if you can activate "Bottomless Trap Hole". So if the opponent Tribute Summons "Enraged Muka Muka" with 1 card in their hand, you can activate "Bottomless Trap Hole" (since its ATK is 1600).

BTW: Chaos Necromancer can be morphed into Thousand-Eyes Restrict.. Forgot to mention that.

Gonna change that Arsenal Bug of Thursday into Moisture Creature. Otherwise, LIGHT would have had no attention....
