chaos sorcerer

I have a facedown chaos sorcerer on my side of the field. I flip him face-up and my opp. chains trap hole. Can I use chaos' effect to remove my opp. monster from play?

Well, in the event that you could Flip Summon a Chaos Sorcerer, you would retain priority to activate his effect. YOU get to go first when you perform a Normal or Flip Summon. Once you decide to use Chaos Sorcerer's effect, or decide not to use it, then your opponent has a chance to respond to the summon with the appropriate cards.

And just in case this was part of your question, yes, if somehow Chaos Sorcerer got flipped down and you where able to Flip Summon him later, then your opponent can respond with Trap Hole, as this is not a Special Summon. But not until after you use or pass on your priority.

While I'm at it, let me add that priority extends to not just the activation of the summoned monster. You get a choice of activating either 1) his effect, 2) the effect of another face-up monster on your side of the field 3) or any Spell Speed 2 effects you have. Once you choose to activate one or none of those, that's when priority is passed to your opponent.

glad to see that some one else knows about that. I can't count how many times I have said that you can choose to activate a different effect when Piority is used.

This is something we've been saying for quite some time. You must have missed our recent debate on priority.
