ok one Question can you chain to the activation of Cold Wave? like a mystic or wabaku???

Cold Wave
TEXT:This card can only be activated at the start of Main Phase 1. Until your next turn, neither player can play or Set any Spell or Trap Cards.

I have a Question about this card.

It says you cannot 'play' or 'set' any Spell and/or Trap cards.

What about the ones that are already set? Can you activate them if they are/were able to be activated?

Or is the term 'play' supposed to mean both 'playing cards from hand' AND 'activating cards set on the field'?

[edit] I'm NOT talking about in a chain with the activation of this card. I'm talking about AFTER this card has resolved.

Thanks.

i think that activating would be a synonamous term for play (needs dictionary to spell syn. word) but i need reassurance from a high level persona, like Raigekick or novastar, dagutwithblueglasses, etc. (if i left you off, i'm just too lazy to type anymore names)

I'd certainly agree with Chaosruler's post that you can't activate traps that were already set either as this would be effectively "playing them".
As long as the Quick-Play or Trap is activated in a chain, you may activate the card. If you allow Cold Wave to resolve successfully without chaining, then you cannot activate set cards, "play" cards from hand, or activate Continuous Effects that trigger.

That was the Question we were answering, he'd asked about if you let it resolve first then try to activate cards which had already been set.

I just wAnted clarification on the term 'play' since you usually 'play' a card from your hand and 'activate' a set card on the field. Plus the fact it say 'play' or 'set' cards, both actions usually occuring from the hand kinda threw me for a loop.

Thanks!
