Mexican Diablillo!!
grettings, ppl. i searched for suitable answer to my doubt, but i didnt find (or maybe im too dumb to know where to look). any ways, here it is.

i saw somewhere in the net that scapegoat tokens cannot be put in face down position (like with tsukuyomi's effect). so my question is this.

is it true?

and if it is not, how do i deal with those effects (tsukuyomi, book of moon, swords of concealing light, etc?).

thnks before hand, and forgive me if i posted this in the wrong section.

[gives out a big sigh] bluntly any token cant' be flipped either way[up or down]. now how it works, well it depends tsukyomi flips itself ,swords and book does nothing to the tokens.

sorry if this questions seems stupid, but a lot of guys here argue that the tokens are destroyed because the tokens can't be put in face down defense position...i needed this post to prove them wrong...but, i know that this here question is as newbee as it can get. sorry for the inconvinience

It's not a stupid question. My thinking is that until recently, tokens weren't a big part of the meta.So a lot of the veteran players didn't really have a good grasp on what tokens where or how they reacted to effects. Even though the Basic Rulebook covered what tokens could or could not do rather succinctly, most people still didn't understand there presence in the game.

Then everyone started running one to three Scapegoats and the old school player's had a lot of misconceptions on how to properly play it, and to this day still don't get it. And they teach each and every new generation the same misinformation.

While on the field, tokensd function just like anyother Normal Monster Card, with the exception that they have no face-down position. Since they have no face-down position, you couldn't even target them with Book of Moon or Tsukuyomi. And check the ruling for Swords of Concealing Light. It put's monsters in face-down Defense Position. The ruling clearly states that since they have no face-down position that they are simply put into Defense Position.

Also Book and Tsuki are targeting effects, Swords of Concealing is a blanket effect so it resolves as much of the effect as it can. But the tokens are by no means destroyed.

In addition, tokens are not destroyed when removed from the field (as the new rules helped to clarify) If they are returned to the hand, removed from play, sent to the Graveyard or tributed then they simply cease to exist. The only time they are destroyed is if something is specifically destroying them.
