Wow, surprised no one has actually done a review/opinion on this mean bean

((if anyone has then sorry for repetition but its not been listed in its own review))

Warrior/Effect
If you have 1 or less cards in your hand, the ATK of this card on the field is increased by 400 points. Also, if this card is the only monster on your side of the field, negate the effects of Flip Effect Monsters destroyed by this card as a result of battle

I've been a bit of a critic of warriors, whilst they are a key type of monster within the game I have become pretty fed up of seeing them, however Blade Knight does turn my head.

Lets look at it's plus and minus sides of his effects shall we

1 - Effect 1; +400 ATK.

Now, for a warrior 1600 attack does seem fairly weak, and most I've talked to when they hear "Blade Knight" don't actually know it's effect, just it's low attack and belive they can rid the field of this card with their 1850/1900 attackers.
"I'll wipe the floor with your Knight"
"Sure ya will...I'll set one S/T, now that I have a single card in hand, that's +400 attack"
"...ah...."

Being boosted to 2000 attack is a great bonus, yes the problem is that he will only achieve this with one/no cards in hand but personally I think it's worth it in the kind of deck he's likely to be used in (Warrior Rush/Trample). Anyone can be happy at a 2000 beat stick if they can limit their hand.

A big problem is cards that will add to an opponents hand (such as Morphing Jar) will do damage to this card, all it needs is a 2nd card to be put in your hand and he becomes very vulnerable so he requires support, preferably some kind of equip card or even ((if in a LIGHT deck)) Luminous Spark, would make him a 2100 4 Star with a 2500 potential.

2 - Effect 2; Flip Negation

Another great effect, employed by many ((not neccesarily with this card...usually Nobleman of Xout)) but very useful under a monster none-the-less. Not many people use flip effect monsters now-a-days unless their decks call for it, most commonly Cyber Jar, Magician of Faith, Man Eater Bugs and Mask of Darknesses being just a few. Few and far between but oh so damn annoying at times. With Nobleman of Xout being limited to just 2, this gives Blade Knight a chance to help out in away, it may not have that same effect but it does negate them either way and actually has and advantage that levels out the disadvantage, and that's that BK only effects the monster attacked, rather then both players copies of the attacked Flip Effect card. This effect is probably the worst of the two, namingly in the fact it requires Blade Knight to be the solo monster on the field, leaving his ideal situation to be the only monster in your control and with just a single card in your hand. Relying heavily on drawing S/Ts that can be set and used in quick succession to save space

3 - The Other Fun Stuff

Ok so what else can be said about Blade Knight? He has two great but flawed effects and is a famous card (used in the anime countless times by Kaiba). Well lets start off with his Attribute and Type, being LIGHT he can fit into a number of decks. You could even be so bold as to fit him into a Fairy Deck if it contains the right cards, or any Light Deck that lacks punch. Being a Warrior he then can fall into becoming a Trample/Rush contender, he could be summoned, take out a solo face down monster before having a second monster summoned in MP2 so that if he were to be taken down, you'd ave something to turn around and slap your opponent with. He could probably even contend with others to get into Chaos decks being LIGHT he could help out clearing the field and become BLS/CED fodder

4 - Overall conclusion

Blade Knight is a tricky card to use with such flawed effects...but all good things come at a price, when used in the right circumstances he is deadly, used wrong and he'll be pushed aside. I do like this card, I don't use him much but I do like it.

Warrior Decks - 8/10
Light Decks - 7/10
Any other deck 5/10

This is/was without a doubt my favorite card of the 2004 tins. I bought 2 tins just for the extra Blade Knight.
- 1600 is respectable, and those effects can be brutal when used properly (especially the ATK boost).
- He's got all that fantastic warrior support (Reinforcement of the Army, The Warrior Returning Alive, Marauding Captain, Freed the Matchless General - the list goes on and on).
- LIGHT is good for Chaos, and an all out warrior chaos deck is very feesible.

Very solid, with potential to be gamebreaking. But not quite a staple for warriors or even chaos. But hey, give him a shot and I'll bet you won't be disappointed.

3.9/5

Its definitely a decent card. There are times that I wish I played one and then there are others that I'm glad I don't. Its attack boost is more useful late game then early. This is because of the obvious fluxuation in possible advantage. You should still have a fairly decent hand size in the early game but late game if you had to deplete your resources for some reason, Blade Knight can help out as a beatstick. It being a light also helps. It was my favourite card also from the '04 tins no doubt. It is a good card, but there are some better things that you could be playing. Although it would also depend on the type of deck. An example of this is in a warrior chaos this card is a really neat fit.

3.6/5 I like it, but its better in singles then it is in multiples. Even for consistency reasons, I wouldn't run more then one, as two Blade Knight in one hand wouldn't be too pleasent.

the true ability of blade knight is that hes a loner,

by himself he takes out those, magicians of faith, morphing jars of every type, night assailant's, and with a small hand he gets strong enough to destroy breaker, tribe, and most of the weaker beasts.

he works really well in a trap based deck, (ive actully been tinkering with one for a while now,)

I actually had plans for a Trap-heavy Chaos/Warrior deck featuring the Silent Swordsmen, Blade Knight, and Makyura the Destructor. The banning of Makyura really trashed that idea. But the possiblity of a Trap-heavy strictly LIGHT warrior deck could still be quite fun.

Blade Knight is a great card I think. He's saved me a few times when I was top-decking desperately.

Haha... So did I, actually.

Anyway, Blade Knight... One of my favorite cards. Used to use him in my old CCWC deck in triples as a huge beatdown. I'm afraid though, that now i don't use him in either of my decks. Not my Amazoness, not my Fairy, not my Harpy, not my Zombie, and not my WATER/Bounce. Why? He's completely out of place in all of those, IMO. He'd be able to work best in my Amazoness Deck, but since in that deck im supposed to have quite a few monsters on the field and usually am stuck with a few cards in my hand, he just would flop and hurt the strategy. For the Fairy Deck, I can think of four good reasons:
1- theres always a few cards in hand.
2- HURTS THE STRATEGY (believe me, ive tried).
3- isnt a fairy, so it wont help Mudora, or the rest of the cards.
4- doesnt increase your LP :p.

As for the other 3, well, im pretty sure you guys can figure it out. So as you can see, I don't think that Blade Knight goes too well in any deck aside from a Warrior/Swarm or Chaos deck. those would be his best homes. Otherwise, really, it just wont do well. I mean, sure itll have 2000 ATK, but probably not without hurting the strategy and synergy of the deck. Maybe a beatdown deck actually....

Rating:
Traditional Warrior/Chaos: 5/5. There aren't really any flaws. I mean, seriously, his 2nd effect is kinda useless here, and there's a bunch of hand removal here too, so its great.
Advanced Warrior/Chaos: 4/5. Just because.
Anything else: 3/5.

Art:
4/5. Awesome art. Slicin' through the back, it looks like. However... He kinda looks like a huge silver bug from a certain angle..

That's completely different to my approach. Blade Knight is pretty much a staple in all my decks, I even threw him into my DM deck.
