this came up and i didnt konw how to resolve it...i had 2 set monsters - (i was just below 5K) nimble & cyberstien , my opponent had 2 cyber dragons in attack... he hit my nimble - fetch another which he also hit, fetched last...his end he set 1 s/t
my turn ( now over 5k) i checked his graveyard .. 2 saks , ring, mirror f all gone so i summoned a reaper in atk - fishing for torriental...no response...i flipped cyberstein, i said "priority to use effect"
and my opponent used his book of moon that was set...what we didn't know was - since i used priority - i paid 5k - correct? - now what ...cyberstien is flipped face down from BoM... and do i still get cyberstein's effect to pull from fusion deck? or did i pay 5k and loose effect since he's now face down....i said book did not negate effect - but opponent cited example of book & reaper flipped & not destroyed by it's effect...i thought they were different since one is continuous and one was activated by choice( ignition???) set us right please... :?

You get your Fusion Monster, Stein goes face-down. You activated the effect and thus get to use it. Had you chosen to pass on your flip and allowed your opponent a chance to respond, then you would not be allowed the Special Summon, but because you used your priority (again... priority does not need to be declared - the turn player inherently has it), your opponent must wait to respond until you have passed your priority to him/her.

Spirit Reaper and Cyber-Stein are like Apples and White Side Wall Tires. They have absolutely nothing to do with each other.

Book of Moon has no effect on Cyber-Stein as long as you indicated that you were using Priority to Activate his effect BEFORE your opponent could respond to his summon.

The Fusion Monster is not selected at Activation. It is selected at resolution, which is why Cyber-Stein doesnt target, so you have the result backwards.

Yes, you are right. He gets his Fusion Monster is all I was intending to say.

Like woo) points out, two totally different effects and reactions to it. In Reapers case, it's a Continuous Effect that doesn't come into play until the card that targeted it resolves. But Stien is a Ignition Effect ad he's chaining Book of Moon to it. This is just like any other chain and you resolve it backward fro the last card played. Spirit Reaper rulings and mechanics are light years away from what he was doing.

Another related question. Let's say I have TT set (previous turn) and my opponent only has 1 face-up Cyber Dragon, with 5600 lp.
I can summon Stein, use priority to activate his effect, respond with TT (cleaning Cyber Dragon and Cyber Stein) and after that my Twin will enter the field, right?

I'm almost sure, but want to confirm.

Thanks

Of course. The only monster that has been summoned is Cyber-Stein, so Torrential Tribute will destroy him after it resolves, and then Stein's effect will resolve with the summon of Cyber Twin Dragon.

You still get his effect. Reaper's effect is a continous effect and doesn't use the chain. It happens right away. Stein's effect does use the chain and waits to resolve. So it becomes chain link 1 and BoM is 2nd.
