Damage Polarizer

i'm trying to answer a question on another forum, but i have to be certain of the answer...so i turn to your knowledge.

this trap, damage polarizer, could stop a ring of destruction or a lava golem?,or cards like meteor of destrction...'couse i see some diference in how they deal the damage. another scenario would be if it would negate barrel behind the door??

any help as to understand the mechanics of this card would be of great help....

First off, Barrel Behind the Door just redirects damage, not inflicts it. So you cannot chain Damage Polarizer to it.

Second, you can activate Damage Polarizer any time you could activate Barrel Behind the Door. The timing for the 2 would be the same so all the rulings for Barrel Behind the Door would be the same for Damage Polarizer.

With the examples you gave, all 3 could be chained with Damage Polarizer (and with the case of Ring of Destruction, since it negates the activation and the effect, the monster targeted would not be destroyed either).

There happens to be a minor difference:
BBtD can only be chained to an effect that would inflict damage to your LPs.
Damage Polarizer can also be chained to an effect that would only inflict damage to your opponent's LPs.
