Dark Deal Question

How exactly does one use this card? The text on it reads something like "the effect becomes your opponent discards 1 random card from his/her hand."

The question is: who discards? The one who activates Dark Deal, or my opponent?

The situation arose in playtesting over the weekend. I think it means my opponent discards, but it could be interpreted both ways.

And I also think this card is quite good. Gave my opponent lots of trouble.

Never mind. I answered my own question by looking at the link. But still, what do people think of this card overall?

Whoever plays "Dark Deal" is the one that ends up discarding a card. If you click on the word "Dark Deal", you'll be taken to all of the rulings for the card.

all this card is really meant for is dark world monsters so u can get their second effects other then that not much use

I'm half pondering using it in a Zombie deck with Despair from the Dark and Fear from the Dark.

The way I look at it, the best defense agaist a Dark World deck with the upcoming list may very well be having a monster with a higher ATK / Def than 2300.

Given Call of the Mummy, Book of Life, and perhaps a Dark Deal....it might just be crazy enough to work.

That is not its only use. Wouldn't you rather discard a Jinzo, or any other decent card, to the Graveyard when your opponent is trying to use Heavy Storm on your face-down Call of the Haunted and Mirror Force??

As well as when they try to activate Creature Swap or Brain Control....

<GRIN> That's the idea. With Call of the Mummy, Ryu Kokki, Vampire Lord, Despair from the Dark and Metamophosis, I've got all kinds of options to put big dogs on the field. Metamophosis and Despair from the Dark alone.....you know what kind of 8 star fusion monsters there are...nasty, then I use Book of Life to bring back out Despair from the Dark.

If only Meta hadn't been restricted to one...that has got to be one of my favorite cards.

Well, not quite goodbye Dispair, I play Call of the Mummy as well. This allows me to special summon it on my turn, of course, by then with a Dark World deck it may be too late with it's swarm capacity. We may very well be seeing an increase of play in Kevin T's favorite card .....Waboku <smirk>

well i just think that we will see an increase in chainable cards since dark world decks run at least 2 Dark World Lightning and less hand control or even the return of confo since u can use it when they got a big hand and its not random, but thats just more wishful thinking for confo

I foresee a marked increase in the play of Spell Shield Type-8 with the upcoming list. With Dark Hole gone, an additional Nobleman of Crossout added, and with Dark World Lightning seeing an increase in play it seems a shoe in at a utility negation card which will save player's face down monsters as well as protect from Snatch Steal and have the potential to negate any other spell card as well.

Spell Shield Type-8 was my "Ultimate" tech card pre-Chaos Era.

I think I was the only one in my local meta at the time to use it and it was indeed a stumper!!
