Dark Hole LOB-EN052

Dark Hole
Normal Spell

Destroy all monsters on the field.

We're taking a step back this week to view some old favorites we may either not have played with for awhile or are glad we haven't seen them for awhile. First up, "Dark Hole". It's not as unbalanced as "Raigeki" in that it simply destroys all monsters on the field, but if this card becomes unbanned, expect most people to put it back into their decks. This card is a momentum changer. It's useful if you are down and want to clear off the field very quickly so you can have an edge. It's useful if you want to sent your own monster to the Graveyard. Also, while it may not be as flexible as "Torrential Tribute" as far as activation, you can use it on your turn, then summon and hit with a free attack. Of course there are times when you have the advantage and you draw it where it won't be that useful (again unlike "Raigeki").

"Dark Hole" is a strong, frustrating when you get hit with, but not a truly broken card.

Staple

No doubt about it this card is a staple and probably only beaten by its bigger brother Raigeki and is in line with its Fraternal Twin - Torrential Tribute

A fun card to run and made Sphinx Decks more fun than a Barrel of Monkeys or even Wheatloaf. Sad that this is banned as It was one of my favorites but outside advanced format this card deserves a slot in most decks.

i dont understand why this card is banned. it costs both you and your opponent. i will be glad if it is ever unbanned. i can also see many people putting it back in their decks.

Maybe, just maybe, because it's a mass destroyer, and they tend to ban such cards...

About destroying both your and your opponent's monsters: you would like to play Dark Hole BEFORE summoning your monster, so it grants a free shot at your enemy's LPs if he doesn't have a spell or trap to prevent that.

Goblin Attack Force, anyone? Call of the Haunted? Premature Burial? Oh my, am I glad this card is banned.

It makes sense to ban cards like HFD, Raigeki and of course the discussed Dark Hole. Think about it ;)
