Dark Magician without Skilled Dark Magician? Say it ain't so :D

Personally, I would lose the Jinzo and the Dark Magician Girl.

> Jinzo is great, obviously, but he seems way out of whack here. You're siding 3 decrees for problematic trap-based decks already, and you don't get any help for summoning him from your Spellcaster/Normal support cards.

> Dark Magician Girl really isn't that good in my opinion, and just clogs up a good DM deck. Releasing her and Sage's Stone gives you 2 slots for some (unfortunately) needed additional generic Spells like Snatch Steal, Nobleman, maybe even a Brain Control. Wait -- no Mystical Space Typhoon at all? Not even sided? Definately swap out a Twister for MST in the side deck (and really consider main decking MST).

Building on that, Thousand Knives and Dark Magic Attack are a little situational to have at 2 per, I think. Maybe try one of each first, and if you're really successful with having Dark Magician around at the right times, then up it back to 2. For a quick fix, swap out with Heavy Storm and Smashing Ground (boooring, I understand completely).

Don't get me wrong, I like what you're trying to accomplish here, and I admire your general adherance to the theme. I think it's too ambitious with the situational cards, and does need some more generic brainless CC "hulk smash" action to keep you alive and kicking long enough to actually pull those situational effects off. I speak from experience with the venerable Black Magician ... don't bite off more than he can chew -- it makes for a really frustrating duel :D

I don't care for the removal aspect of this deck.
I'm more concerned with the return aspect. So...no.

djp952:
Yeah, hate to disappoint a fellow 'Caster, but honestly...
Skilled Dark Magician SUCKS @#$!! Especially in THIS deck.
Here's why:
1. When do I EVER play 3 spells in ONE turn without Magical Blasts?
2. How could I EVER get his effect off with so much removal in the game now?
3. Ancient Rules changes EVERYTHING you knew about summoning N. Mons.
4. I also have Magical Dimension at my beck and call, too.

Believe it or not I do have good reason for both the Jinzo and DMG respectively.
Jinzo: He's here for the Dimension Fusion/R.f.t.D.Dimension setup primarily.
DMG: She's here not for any other reason than I have 4 Monsters that boost her to 3200 Atk over all!! I usually already have 2 in the Graveyard when she arrives.
I felt you on the Stone, though and took it out. For Snatch.
I sided Heavy & Typhoon and got to keep both Twisters.
Thousand Knives: OUT. Hated to do it because it works on face-downs, but hey.
DM Attack: STAYS!!! R. U. serious? What with three Dark Magicians its almost guaranteed every duel. Works quite well, I might add.
Situational? You bet and the situation is this: It happens every duel.
Spellcasters is what I started this game with so it does URKKK me that it's not a Tier 1 deck on it's own, much like DW and 6 Samurai even though it's been out since the beginning of the game and has tons more useless cards. Even the dragon deck is doing much better than ever before. I want that for the spellcasters.

P.S. UDE/Konami or whoever it is that makes these decisions. Stop making corny spellcaster cards and give us something real to work with. Pleeeezzzz!!

I hear you, man! Give us Dark Magic Curtain and let us revive the Dark Magician!

Oh, to note: Dark Magician Girl's effect doesn't include Dark Magician of Chaos, but with the Ritual Monster Magician of Black Chaos. Who's he? Surprise, surprise, he's never made it to the TCG. Thank you, UDE... -_-

Without Magician's Circle, the Dark Magician Girl + Sage's Stone combo doesn't work, so taking both out for some other monsters would be worthwhile.

Then regarding Skilled Dark Magician... Sadly I have to agree with Suerte Rico here: he's a good beat-stick, but the current meta has too many removals to allow him to stay on-field long enough to utilise his effect. Admittedly he's had his moments in my deck and I only take him out when I switch in Sacred Phoenix of Nephthys.

Ojimaru:
Yeah! Now your talkin' my man! Dark Magic Curtain would be sick in here!
I thought it was understood that either the American DMG or DMoC was a misprint and that as a result is still works?
Am I wrong?
Oh well, what's in decks these days that can even go up against a 2900 Atk monster?
I hear that the Magician of Black Chaos (Ritual and all) were due out end of year.
Okay, okay fine the deck's been updated anyway. I took them out.
Thanx on Skilled DM I get a buttload of trashtalk from my friends when I say that, but its the truth! I'm glad someone knows what I'm sayin'.

I like the Dark Magician/Gemini Elf + Order to Charge combo setup much better.
It provides a decent removal engine that is unique to this deck and new to Spellcaster decks in general. The advantage here is that O.t. Charge destroys both face-up & face-down with an easy to live with cost. In the case of D. Magician it really is no cost at all thanks to Birthright. Gemini Elf on the other hand provides me with more Normals to use with Ancient Rules so I never have it as just a dead draw. I usually get to use it right away.

I put in removal because you had practicly none. Dark Elf will be surprising to the opponent. I made the deck more stable to fit the current game.
