Dark Scorpion Burglars PGD-028

Dark Scorpion Burglars
Effect Monster (Warrior / DARK / 4 Stars / ATK 1000 / DEF 1000)

When this card inflicts Battle Damage to your opponent's Life Points, your opponent selects 1 Spell Card from his/her Deck and sends it to the Graveyard. The Deck is then shuffled.

Pharaonic Guardian gave birth to 2 interesting concept groups, the Gravekeepers and the Dark Scorpion Burglars. While the Gravekeepers all came out in PGD, the Dark Scorpions would need 3 sets to get their whole group out (talk about a lack of love). This week we're going to take a look at the underappreciated burglars.

First off we have the group as a whole. As a preface to about every card this week, let me say theat all of the Dark Scorpion monster cards needs either a clear field, a heavy hitter in front of them, or a strong equip card to make them usable since you're not going to get many chances to pull off any of their effects with a direct attack.

That said, this card severely hampered. A 4 Star, 1000 ATK/DEF with a mediocre effect? Look at "Vampire Lord" for a moment. A 5 Star 2000 ATK creature with a similar effect (though not limited to spell cards) and a recursion ability so that he can keep coming back to the field. Was 1 star really worth all that difference? Probably not, but while V-Lord at 5 Stars probably is the right call, this one at 4 isn't. At the least it should have been dropped to 3 to be able to sneak under "Gravity Bind" at the least. As is... sorry guys gotta pass with you as a group. We'll see how you do individually over the next few days.

The Dark Scorpion Gang has always interested me, and I've given thought to making a hand-disruption deck off of them. The main deal is yea, they're stats are beyond pathetic, all at 1000-1400, with the exception of Gorg, at a mediocre 1800 TRIBUTE monster. I suppose that's because of their amazing effects, but STILL. You won't be pulling off Dark Scorpion combination much. Messenger of Peace is their best friend as far as stalls is concerned. The Dark Scorpions belong in a hand-d/bounce deck IMO, since they cannot destroy anything via battle, with cards like Guardian Sphinx, Mirror Wall, Big Bang Shot, Books of Moon, etc. It COULD work, I've been tweaking one on paper for some time, but it's tough. I'd like to see a Dark Scorpion field card that gave them a 200 attk boost and the trample ability...Add a few Stumblings and you'd really have a useable deck type.

Ah the Dark Scorpion burglars. Well I like the art because you get a good pic of the whole team. I knew it took at least two sets to complete the team but three? Man, that's sad. Sader still, this card definitely got the short end of the stick. Come on, 2000 overall stats (combine ATK and DEF) should have made it a LV 3. If it had just 200 more ATK or DEF then ok but the effect not good enough to make a LV difference on its own. Like the theives found in games of Fire Emblem, Dark Scorpion burglars are not exactly beatsticks. Cunning is the name of the game. These guys need cards like 'The A. Forces' or Command knight to power them up. Or blockades like Messenger of the peace, or a Maruading Captain lock.

the burglars have been easily replaced by Vampire Lady, with the same effect, but enhanced with a better ATK. well, to an extent. personally, i think that the dark scorpion set was a smidge unorganized (some mafia). i mean, come on, menae's effect does not apply to Don, the most important scorpion.

what i also think is stupid is that they show Don's guns on their holsters in this one, but on his picture, he has knives... (stupid censorship... oh wow, dont get me started) the effect is usable, but not amazing, and, like you all said, the stats are very sub par (well, exiled force had the same stats, but a much better effect).
