DCR-052 Interdimensional Matter Transporter

DCR-052 Interdimensional Transporter
SD1-EN026
DR1-EN214

Run! Run! Run away! Live to fight another day.

Have you ever tributed a monster or two only to see that summon hit the graveyard as fast as it did the field? Have you ever attacked with your Dark Magician of Chaos and it met with a Mirror Force or Sakuretsu Armor? Perhaps you thought you had the game locked up and Exiled Force hit the field to wish your Black Luster Soldier-Envoy to the Beginning a fond farewell. These are the times when you call Interdimesional Matter Transporter "Friend"

Keep in mind here that Interdimensional Matter Transporter doesn't special the removed monster back to the field. I'm sure we could all think of a great many uses for this card if that were the case. Instead Interdimensional Matter Transporter "returns" the removed monster to the field.

This is a card that is probably best suited for decks who focus on their big killer monsters and have worked hard or tribute monsters to summon them. You can't afford to have all that planning and the cards you've sacrificed to waste. You've likely already given up hand advantage to get the big guy out, Interdimensional Matter Transporter will help protect it from an early demise.

Another good use for this interesting trap card is to keep your own monsters from being used against you. You don't want you Black Luster Soldier-Enjoy to the Beginning turning on you and worse yet, being used against you from your opponent's Snatch Steal. Chain Interdimensional Matter Transporter to Snatch Steal and you'll watch Snatch Steal resolve without effect and have your monster back in the end phase of the current turn.

Card # DCR-052
Card Name Interdimensional Matter Transporter
Card Type Trap
Is Counter No
Is Continuous No
Card Text
Select 1 face-up monster on your side of the field and remove it from play until the End Phase of the turn this card is activated.

RONIN Rulings:

1. A monster removed with "Interdimensional Matter Transporter" doesn't occupy a Monster Card Zone. If there are no Monster Card Zones available when it returns, it is destroyed.

2. If you control your opponent's monster because of "Change of Heart" or "Snatch Steal", and remove the monster with "Interdimensional Matter Transporter", the monster returns to your side of the field, then immediately returns to your opponent's side of the field.

3. A monster returned to the field because of "Interdimensional Matter Transporter" returns in the same Battle Position that it was in when it was removed from the field.

4. If a Spirit Monster is returned to the field with "Interdimensional Matter Transporter" the same turn it was Summoned or flipped face-up, it returns to the field and then returns to the owner's hand.

5. When a Fusion Monster is returned to the field with "Interdimensional Matter Transporter" the same turn it was Special Summoned with "Summoner of Illusions" or "Magical Scientist", the Fusion Monster is not destroyed or returned to the Fusion Deck.

6. When an Archfiend is returned to the field with "Interdimensional Matter Transporter" after it was Special Summoned with "Archfiend's Roar", it is not destroyed by "Archfiend's Roar"'s effect.

7. When "Karate Man", or a monster affected by "Limiter Removal", is removed from play with "Interdimensional Matter Transporter", it is not destroyed that turn because the effect of "Karate Man"/"Limiter Removal" is reset.

8. [Re: Archfiend's Roar] When you remove an Archfiend from the field that was Special Summoned with "Archfiend's Roar", using "Interdimensional Matter Transporter", the effect is reset and it can be offered as a Tribute, and will not be destroyed during the End Phase.

9. [Re: Dark Magic Attack] If you activate "Dark Magic Attack", and the "Dark Magician" is removed from the field with "Interdimensional Matter Transporter" or "Compulsory Evacuation Device", or flipped face-down with "Book of Moon", or destroyed by "Ring of Destruction", "Dark Magic Attack"'s effect still resolves.

10. [Re: Dark Magician of Chaos] When "Dark Magician of Chaos" is removed from play by "Interdimensional Matter Transporter", it is removed from play but will return to play as normal due to "Interdimensional Matter Transporter"'s effect.

11. [Re: Gradius' Option] If "Gradius' Option" is temporarily removed from play by the effect of "Interdimensional Matter Transporter" or "Dimensionhole", when it returns to the field you must select a new "Gradius". If there is no "Gradius" on the field, it is destroyed.

12. [Re: Blast Held by a Tribute] In order to inflict 1000 points of damage to your opponent, you must destroy all monsters on your opponent's side of the field first. So if you activate "Blast Held by a Tribute", and your opponent chains "Ring of Destruction" or "Interdimensional Matter Transporter" so that your opponent has no monsters to destroy, then "Blast Held by a Tribute" inflicts no damage.

13. [Re: Burst Stream of Destruction] If you activate "Burst Stream of Destruction", and the "Blue-Eyes White Dragon" is removed from the field with "Interdimensional Matter Transporter" or "Compulsory Evacuation Device", or flipped face-down with "Book of Moon", or destroyed by "Ring of Destruction", "Burst Stream of Destruction"'s effect still resolves.

14. [Re: Enemy Controller] If you take control of your opponent's monster with "Enemy Controller", and then the monster is removed from play with "Interdimensional Matter Transporter" or "Dimensionhole", when it returns to play it comes to the side of the field of the player who used "Enemy Controller", but then immediately moves back to the original Controller.

15. [Re: Gradius' Option] If the selected "Gradius" is temporarily removed from play by the effect of "Interdimensional Matter Transporter" or "Dimensionhole", "Gradius' Option" is destroyed.

16. [Re: Horus the Black Flame Dragon LV4] If "Horus the Black Flame Dragon LV 4" destroys a monster as a result of battle, and is removed from play by "Interdimensional Matter Transporter", and returns to play during the End Phase, you can still activate its effect.

17. [Re: Magical Scientist] If the Fusion Monster is flipped face-down with "Book of Moon", or removed from play with "Dimensionhole" or "Interdimensional Matter Transporter" or "Different Dimension Gate", the effect is reset and the Fusion Monster does not go back to the Fusion Deck, and is not prohibited from attacking your opponent's Life Points directly.

18. [Re: Mirage Knight] When a "Mirage Knight" that was involved in battle is removed from play with "Interdimensional Matter Transporter" or "Dimensionhole", it is not removed from play during the End Phase by its own effect.

19. [Re: Special Hurricane] If a monster is Special Summoned, then removed from the field with "Interdimensional Matter Transporter", and returns to the field, "Special Hurricane" WILL destroy it if activated after it returns to the field.

20. [Re: Spirit Reaper] "Spirit Reaper" is only destroyed by its own effect if it is face-up on the field when the effect designating it as a target activates, AND after the effect designating it as a target resolves. If you Special Summon "Spirit Reaper" with Monster Reborn, or flip it face-down with "Book of Moon", or flip it face-up with "Book of Taiyou", it is not destroyed. If a face-down "Spirit Reaper" is targeted with "Change of Heart", then Flip Summoned, it is not destroyed because it was face-down when "Change of Heart" was activated. If "Spirit Reaper" is targeted by the effect of "Relinquished", "Spirit Reaper" is an Equip Spell Card after the effect of "Relinquished" resolves, so it is not destroyed. If "Spirit Reaper" is removed from play with "Dimensionhole" or "Interdimensional Matter Transporter" or "Different Dimension Gate", then it is removed from play so it is not destroyed. If "Spirit Reaper" is shuffled into the Deck with "Monster Recovery", it's not destroyed. If "Spirit Reaper" is returned to the hand with "Penguin Soldier", it's not destroyed.

21. [Re: Twin-Headed Behemoth] If removed from play temporarily by the effect of "Dimensionhole" or "Interdimensional Matter Transporter", it will return with its original ATK/DEF, but its condition is not reset.

22. [Re: Ultimate Insect LV5] If this monster is Special Summoned by the effect of "Ultimate Insect LV 3", but is then flipped face-down, or removed from play with "Interdimensional Matter Transporter" or "Dimensionhole", its effect is reset, so even if flipped face-up again, it will no longer decrease the ATK of the opponent's monsters.

i think this card is a great card in the right deck hihgly underestmated in its power, for the cost of one of you card you make they wast a card, and have to use up more resorse just to kill a monster that should be dead alrdy

this is a very under rated card that is now in the structure decks. but i would like it to see more playabilty

I think it's playability could see an increase. There is a trend toward trap heavy decks with the focus being on monster destruction. Interdimensional Matter Transporter is a reasonable way to counter that trend.

Ihg oppnent attacks and you remove from play with Interdimensional Matter Transporter, Can they attack your life points instead. Or does it stop the attack.?

If you remove your only monster from the field with Interdimensional Matter Transporter then the number of monsters on the defending (your own) side of play has changed forcing the battle phase to reset and your opponent (turn player) may decide if they wish to attack your life points directly or move to main phase 2.

Sometimes though it's better to take direct damage then to have one of your monsters attacked. Certainly it's better to lose you monster until the end phase of a turn than to have it destroyed by card effect at the present time.

10. [Re: Dark Magician of Chaos] When "Dark Magician of Chaos" is removed from play by "Interdimensional Matter Transporter", it is removed from play but will return to play as normal due to "Interdimensional Matter Transporter"'s effect.

I had heard, and compared, that the basic "what happens" to Spirits who return to the field is the same as DMoC. Once it returns from IMT's effect during the End Phase, that its own conditional effect would trigger removing it from play permanently.

Is this not so? If it is able to return, can you clarify the reasons why?

To answer you Squid, my understanding is that the spirit monster is coming back during the end phase of the same turn it was summoned. This is why it will come back to the field (via Interdimensional Matter Transporter) and then back to your hand (because of it being a Spirit-type).

Now, if it were coming back in a different turn (e.g. Different Dimension Gate) it could remain on the field.

Hope this helps.

Jathro is right on the money with his anaylsis for spirit monsters.

As for the way Dark Magician of Chaos is concerned see ruling #10 on the card review itself. In short, this is one instance where when DMOC leaves the field he isn't sent to the removed from play area.

Nope, I have zero new PMs, I even tried logging out and in again to see if it just needed to refresh, but oh well, just make sure you spelt it right

Sorry. My comparison with the mandatory effect of Spirits was misleading. I understand the mechanics of IMT vs. Spirits (ran one for a while) Thanks though, Jathro.:)

I am surprised about the ruling of IMT vs. DMoC, but happy, too. I use DMoC more than any other 2 trib I can think of, so this is great news for his protection.

as an aside, I dont mind having the starter IMT cards, but man! There are some pictures that are born Ultra Rare coolness. This is one.

I have this card and i run it on my deck :D.I just call it the cloaking device since it can make almost any effect dissapear :D.

hmm...

IMT is a great card and all but...

Isnt Book of Moon better/same? And same with Compulsury (well, i guess with Compulsury, though, you arent helping your NOMIs...)?

I prefer Book of Moon, but IMT is still a good card. Definatly worth a try in any deck.
