Deck Devastation Virus Vs My Body As A Shield

Is it possible to activate my body as shield to negate the activation of DDV?

As MBAS says,
My Body as a Shield
Quick-Play Spell
When your opponent activates a card that has the effect that destroys 1 or more monsters on the field, pay 1500 Life Points to negate the activation of the card and destroy it.

This means that I can activate MBAS if I have a monster on the field that would get destroyed by DDV's effect?

Also if I chain a card that destroys the monster that is going to be tributed for DDV's, does DDV gets negated?

Yay! I didn't waste everyone's time in bringing that up! xD

I'm not so tired now that I'm out of class and can relax in the liberary until my ride shows up. =P

Good thing I even brought it up! =/

Here's an interesting point to cause a few migrains and to make everyone share my pain. (I broke my leg a few hours ago.) Suppose Convulsion of Nature was active and the very top card of your opponent's deck was a monster with an ATK of 1500. Your opponent either has face-down(s) and/or monster(s) with an attack over 1500. You then tribute your 2000 Dark Monster to activate Deck Devastation Virus. Can your opponent chain My Body as a Shield to negate its effect since both you and your opponent can clearly see that a monster is going to be destroyed? Or does the "GAME" consider it an unknown card? If so, why?

(If this scenario makes no sence, chalk it up to the Percocet :D I'm sleepy and in pain)

I would say no. Because the cards in the deck are assumed random by the game. Even if you can see the card that will be drawn next that is not a card that is currently being destroyed, it is still a card that may be destroyed if and when it is drawn.

Digitial, still wouldn't matter like Antony and Skey have said. Cards in your deck can only hold the status of what type of card they are. Such as Monster, Spell, or Trap. That is at most the only status I can see a card in the deck having. Even if you can clearly see what card will be drawn from Convulsion of Nature, it still doesn't matter. The card that you see is considered to be random.

Also another thing like the other two guys mentioned is that your question conflicts with card text. My Body as a Shield clearly points out that the monster has to be on the field for it to protect a monster.

When I mentioned this in the beginning, I wasn't even thinking of My Body of a Shield's text. Just the rulings. =P

Keep in mind though (just as a reminder) that cards in the hand which you can see are NOT considered random for the purposes of this game as is evidenced by the rulings for Ominous Fortunetelling......

If the opponent's hand is revealed by the effect of "Mind on Air", etc., turn his/her hand face-down and then randomly select a card.

Not that it matters for the purposes of this thread as a whole....just to make sure we don't assume a visable card is still considered random.

John, that's so far beyond my understand of what you just said I'll just leave it at that. The main point I was trying to make is tha cards in the deck are considered random. That's all I was trying to mean.

not if their visible is what mr. danker just stated.

when ever you randomly have to do something you have to flip it over in a way that you cannot see its face and now what it is.

in this case My Body can negate DDV if both you and your opponent can clearly see a monster on the field that it can destroy.

IF its face down then it cannot negate it. since DDV needs to resolve to find thouse out and its too late for My Body to do anything about it.

there we go that solves it.

its a half and half rule.

its based of Tribe and Acid Trap Hole.

lol, its also ruling 13 of BBTD.

"You cannot activate "Barrel Behind the Door" against effects if you don't know for certain that they will inflict damage when the effect is activated. So you cannot activate it against "Dice Jar", "Judgment of Anubis", "Time Wizard" or "Ante". Your cannot activate "Barrel Behind the Door" against "Ceasefire" if all monsters on the field are face-down, or if all monsters on the field are face-up Normal Monsters, but you can activate it against "Ceasefire" if there is at least 1 face-up Effect Monster on the field."
