Deus Ex Machina

The Machina Mayhem Structure Deck debuts Feburary 23 at a Nerdy Fanboy Store near you, or in the vicinity. Union Monsters make a comeback (that is presuming they were ever really "here" to begin with) along with an assortment of high tech beasties and Spell/Traps to beat your opponent over the head with.

For those who don't remember or who are unfamiliar with Union Monsters, these were one of the first kind of Monster Cards able to equip themselves to another monster, and take the hit for the equipped monster if the equipped monster were destroyed, by battle, effect or both, depending on the effect text. Essentially, the were Thousand-Eyes Restrict who could only equip to certain types of cards. The Union concept seems like a natural fit for the Machine-type thematic.

Here's the new Structure Deck's stats, along with obligatory dueling mat and guide:

37 Common Cards
1 Ultra Rare Card
2 Super Rare Cards

And here are the decks goodies:

[/floatl]SDMM-EN001 (Ultra Rare)
Machina Fortress
:earth:/Machine - Effect/7*/ATK 2500/DEF 1600
You can discard Machine-Type monster(s) whose total Levels equal 8 or more to Special Summon this card from your hand or Graveyard. When this card is destroyed by battle and sent to the Graveyard, select and destroy 1 card your opponent controls. When this face-up card you control is targeted by an opponent's Effect Monster's effect, look at your opponent's hand and discard 1 card from their hand.

What's NOT to like about this guy? Relatively simple summoning conditions, for 1 x 1 destruction effect plus the ability to nerf a card form their hand when it's targeted. Sounds like jank to me.

SDMM-EN002(Super Rare)
Machina Gearframe
:earth:/Machin - Union/4*/ATK 1800/DEF 0
When this card is Normal Summoned, you can add 1 "Machina" monster except "Machina Gearframe" from your Deck to your hand. Once per turn, during your Main Phase, you can equip this card to a Machine-Type monster you control as an Equip Card, OR unequip it to Special Summon this card in face-up Attack Position. (1 monster can only be equipped with 1 Union Monster at a time. If the equipped monster would be destroyed, destroy this card instead.)

The Deck will include some reprints of harder to get cards like "Blast Sphere", "Cyber Valley", "Card Trader", "Time Machine", and "Dimensional Prison." Here's the rest of card list courtesy Shriek.Twoday:

SDMM-EN003 Machina Peacekeeper
:earth:/Machine - Union/2*/ATK 500/DEF 400

jeez its dawn of the machines again! lol it comes with a cyber dragon? there goes the rarity in that card lol no more 20$-34$ for a cyber dragon (thank you god..).

i knew it was only a matter of time before unions made a comeback! (yay! easier XYZ deck!)

hmmm never thought of machines (just machines no add ins EX magician of faith) as "good" before (which is strictly my opinion btw) because my definition of good is how synchronized a deck is in terms of how well each card plays off another.

cyber dragon decks are pretty good they're just to mainstream for my taste (everyone uses them :skull:), and ancient gear decks are ok they just aren't as good anymore cause no cards ever come out for them, and the roids potential died the same way ancient gear is [guarantee its because cyber dragons are so popular :crying:], but this one has potential that with the right upgrades could be devastating by itself or with any other machine deck!

i would have mentioned the cyber dark cards but those cards involve dragons and right now im strictly talking machines (i stated this earlier with the EX).

tho i guarantee most people who get this structure deck will put them in a cyber dragon deck instead of exploring the potential machina deck (or a roid/machina deck  that would be interesting if you could get it to work), I'm still excited about this structure deck! lol anyone else?

I'm definitely getting this one. Machinas are awesome, and it's going to be interesting to see the Union Monsters finally getting a comeback.

I bought it and yea i see definite potential in these cards more so than i already did. im now goin for a new deck idea tho i cant say for sure what it will revolve around. i just know these cards have a power that i wish to explore in anyway possible. i recommend this deck too anyone willing to give new ideas and strategies a chance:D lol
