Is anyone else out there a fan of Diablo, Diablo II and LOD? I"m wondering, considering the success of WOW, if there will ever be a Diablo III or if Blizzard feels they have maximized the profit for the game. Comments

this was a long long time ago when i heard about this, like before wow came out, i think i saw/heard that they were makin it but it got dropped for some reason but i wish they would come out with another one cuz i loved the game hey i just may go play it again:D

I thought Diablo was the best of the D&D role playing games; I even played through most of the MODs out there and I know it was a big money maker but it seems WOW is just bigger. My favorite character was the Druid. We should start a letter campaign to see if we can get some love from Blizzard.

I liked playing D2 however I wouldnt want to play it anymore. All the bugs annoy me greatly. There are some that were present in 1.0 and are still in it. But there were many things in that game that disturbed me after a while.

Last summer I played Titan Quest and I liked it far more. There were many features and tweaks in gameplay that I wished for in a D2 patch for many years but didnt got. Unfortunately I didnt play it on my machine and I couldnt finish it. But what I saw I liked.

But I still hope they make D3. And they probably will after wow becomes old. I know many people who think it's old already. They surely will make it because we know the name will sell it anyway.

Fury, I agree that even if the game comes out and is terrible, the name alone would sell enough before the gamers like me caught on; I never tried Titan Quest, is it the same Diablo format. As for the bugs, I know I downloaded several patches and it did seem like I was always downloading the lastest one but most updated automatically when I went online and that's what I enjoyed most about the game is that it could be played offline although the most fun I had is when my brother and I put the computers side by side and ran through the game.

Well, I dont want to write a long essay here about my experience with D2 but I will share some. These are just my opinion!

I played D2 with friends few times but it wasnt that much better than playing alone. On the contrary. Alone, I have all the time to collect the dropped stuff, go back, hurry forward if I want skip that part, etc. but in a team there needs to be cooperation and that seemd like work to me. And to argue about a good item about who should get it with a friend is bad, too.

On a side note the patches rarely fixed important stuff. They added some new item types and features but most of they were still useless. I never found a good charm for example. And the unbalance between the characters is annoying. And the unbalance between the abilities of a single character are even more annoying. There arent many ways to play a characted but with 30 abilities there should have been.

I always liked the gems, collecting them, transmute them, but after the first act there is no reason to use them. A perfect gem is already useless in act 4 and how many do you get until then. Not to mention you need a socketed item for them.

In Titan Quest all is changed. The ability tree needs additional points to be able to choose higher ranked spells, like +5 point so they become available. In diablo you only needed the level. So can chose to have a L6 low power ability or a L1 high ranked ability, but not both. Unlocking the higher ranks is only worth it if you want to use all(many) abilities form that rank or else you are wasting point. So as many levels as many playing styles for a character. But wait. A character has not 1 but 2 classes. You get 1 at the start and choose another at lv10 I guess. with 2 points per level you can advance 1 class all out, or 1 here 1 there. Many possobilities and many combinations between the classes. 8 classes and you choose 2 - how is that?

And the gems (the had a different name). You dont nned the cube, they simply merge, and you dont need 3 for the next level. if you have the 5 parts it is perfect. Some need 3 part, some more. All items have 1 socket, so you can use your gems right away, and you can merge the additional part later, when u have 1 in the item already. Even rings have sockets.

And of course the abilities are all different from D2, and there are some I never saw anywhere before.

That's a long enough essay I guess :)

I found that the Chaos MOD made gems very playable beyond Act 1; each one had an effect that added +1 to the levels of each character type depending on how it was socketed (weapon, helmet, shield...); and at least in the Chaos MOD leveling up was much faster, although there were some bugs that were never fixed such as a certain cave in Act 1 being sure death as wave after wave of Diablo clone was spawned, but if you went to the same cave in the next difficulty level, they died with any contact and you quickly leveled up based on that and they dropped some serious stuff (like +45 to each skill amulets).
