Divinity VS Holy Fire

Sigh, after such a long absence from this great forum, I feel I am somewhat undeserving of a response to this, but I must ask anyways.

There seems to be some confusion in my circle of YGO playing friends over Divine Wrath and Solar Flare Dragon.

Actually - why don't I just make it simple:

Can Divine Wrath be used against Solar Flare Dragons 500 LP at the End Phase effect?

There was confusion over whether that effect was considered continuous for the purposes of Divine Wrath or not (and Netrep has not made it completely clear, or rather, seems to give conflicting information)

Much appreciated.

Well if they made Fire Princess a trigger she would create a new chain after the current had finished resolving. Also she would become even more useless as Barrel could be used against her (not to mention a dozen other cards that currently don't stop her). :)

She needed something to make her a little more playable. Don't you think?

I suppose if we look at other cards we KNOW can be DW'ed, such as perhaps Helpomer (sorry to bring more cards into the mix) where the effect is continuous (but only happening at a certain point) it can simply be said that though an effect is continuous in nature that is doesn't NEED to be activated, but rather, it activates itself - it still happens at a predetermined point in the phases and as such it "triggers" at that stage.

Funny - All this time, I have thought SFD (the BURN aspect, I know the "Can't be attacked if..." part is continuous) could not be DV'ed at the Burn part of the effect.

Hmmmm, it's satisfying to know that even here, there was initially some confusion over which was the right answer.

Oh, and while it could be argued Barrel Behind the Door can be used (but some may say this is a special case card...and DV still could not be used on SFD) while to an extent it seems to have special rulings on what it can activate on - obviously there has to be a point where an effect occurs and you then can say "I CHAIN BBtD" to it - most likely - a continuous effect would not be able to be chained to with BBtD. Of course, with that Reasoning - every burn effect (that actually WOULD do a defined amount, or to a defined target (opponent or you) ) could therefore be DV'ed (as long as it was effect damage of course).

Then I thank you all - it is nice to finally have that cleared up.

Wow...I can't believe this, that sort of knowledge would have changed so many a duel in the past, both in my favour and against. Hmmm, methinks I'd best delay my dreams of becoming a judge for a while longer.

And yes, was aware the "cannot attack SFD if other pyro on field" effect was continuous - but always nice to have that mentioned for the sake of the argument.

Good on you all.
