When you activate this card, declare 1 Type of monster. As long as this card remains face-up on the field, all face-up monsters become the Type you declared.


Ahhhh, DNA Surgery, how do I love thee, let me count the ways:
1) Kinetic Soldier - think about it
2) Ryu Kokki - same as above
3) Getsu Fuhma - same as above
4) Insect Barrier - classics are still nice
5) Marauding Captain - field lock
6) Fairy King Truesdale - SHUT UP! IT WORKS
7) Manticore of Darkness - what Beasts? I don't see any Beasts
8) Beast Soul Swap - fun
9) Limiter Removal - what Machines?
10) Dragon Capture Jar - TDS deck
11) Command Knight - power boost from hell
12) King Dragun - protection for all
13) Tribe-Infecting Virus - field nuke, or no destruction at all
etc.
14) Goblin King - there, Dillie-O, happy?
15) Solar Flare Dragon, Soul-Absorbing Bone Tower, Arcane Archer of the Forest - field lock/protection
16) Enraged Battle Ox - MAD trample
17) Prickle Fairy - protect your whole field

I give it a 4 out of 5, since it's a TRAP THAT Jinzo LAUGHS AT

What?! You forgot the PERFECT reason for DNA Surgery.... Goblin King!

Let's also note that GK was released at the same time as Opti-Camoflage Armor. So we have a pansy 1 star fiend that is boosted from both sides of the field and could potentially do 9000 hit all at once. Gees, I gotta work on my fiend evangelization more.... 8^D

do you mean making your monsters Machine type with that? lovely.

Or...If you use DNA Surgery on Machine type monsters that had already been affected by Limiter Removal to change their type, they will be destroyed nevertheless, won't they?

Just today Weevil used the DNA Surgery - Insect Barrier combo against Yugi in the anime, and it was really nice, but hey, it's just a trap. you always have some possibilites to get rid of them, a popular one being Breaker the Magical Warrior (which Yugi indeed used in the anime to destroy DNA Surgery). or the above mentioned psycho-shocker guy I just voted the most ugly monster of all time.

sure, some good combos possible with DNA Surgery, but also here the problem of having all needed cards ready at one time (and I'm not a lucky guy when it comes to drawing the right card at the right time), so you better have several copies of either DNA Surgery or (recommended) the card you want to use it with -> you have a theme deck, like one with Goblin King (eeeevil!) or something.

Anyway: a ton of good combos presented, very nice!
 
DNA Surgery also works well with Rivalry of the Warlords. Call the monster type that you picked from Rivalry and your opponent can only set monsters face down.

(though, if you want two continuous traps to protect your LP, just use Spirit Barrier + Astral Barrier)

actually, they choose that same type, because each player chooses a different type, and since only 1 type exists, both control it, has basically no effect, unless DNA is destroyed without killing RoW.

I'm not so sure this works. With Rivalry each player can only keep one type of monster face up. You do not declare a type as such. So Player A can have Fiend and Player B can have Rock. They can then only summon that type. If you play DNA Surgery and declare Wind, then as this was played last it makes all monsters Wind, so Rivalry becomes useless.

This happened to me recently. I had two Solar Flare Dragons and Rivalry in play. My opponent played DNA Surgery, everything became Fiend. I then lost my Solar Flare attack lock down, and all sorts of monsters came out. And yes - they had Goblin Kings...
 
I just wanna add, you CANNOT call Spirit to force each monster in their owner's hands during the End Phase, just like you cannot call Toon.

There doesn't appear to be any limitation in the rulings on the Type you can pick with DNA Surgery and RoW on the field. What's your logic?

When "Rivalry of Warlords" is active, and you change the Type of all of your monsters with "DNA Surgery" or "Parasite Paracide" or "D. Tribe", you now only have 1 Type so you are OK and no monsters are destroyed, and you can also Summon, Flip Summon, and Special Summon additional monsters that do not have that printed Type on the card and they will be considered that Type and are not destroyed.
 
One other tactic I failed to mention earlier, but has some profoundly good results was from an article I read over on the realms. In an Archfiend deck, they already have the protection by their namesake, or subtype, as I'd call it, so why not use DNA Surgery to give it a double boost of other types.

For instance, make a machine archfiend deck so that your Terrorking can double its attack and then attack directly through a Checkmate.

Make a beast archfiend deck with all the new spells and traps available through FET and go to town.

This dual capacity feature makes DNA Surgery even more lethal.

Too bad they don't have a Magic Reflecter for traps. 8^D

Yep. It is official I am having a lack of precision day. Mucho apologies for being stoopid today this is the second time I have goofed up (test: find the other postings...). I meant to call a Type not an Attribute ('Wind').

On the previous posting re: calling fiend, I thought you were meaning that the player was restricted to calling a Type from those already in play - which is not the case.

DNA Translant is a whole subject in itself (Ultimate Baseball Kid being a starter)
 
EDIT-okay it is not destroyed. what would you think happens to the attack no stipulation on Limiter Removal states the effect disapears at the end of the turn so after the turn Limiter Removal is activated is the attack returned to 1200 or remains boosted?

help me get it on the list I wanna see UDE/konomi/Netrepâ„¢ give a real ruling the judges in my area don't know how to rule it.
