Yesterday I was at Target and they had a new 2 pack set of booster packs that included 1 pack of Dark Crisis and one pack of Flaming Eternity, plus 2 Holofoil cards for $10 each. I bought 2 of them, and the freaking Holofoils are Andros Sphinx and Sphinx Teela. WTF!! They are just trying to get rid of these things as much as they can and are now trying to make you think you are getting some good cards in these two packs when you really aren't.

At least I got some Super Rare card called Blast Magician from the FET pack.

Check the re-distributors. There are about five companies out there that re-package UDE cards. Two of which, I have found to be less than reliable. As always, it is buyer beware. If you feel that you have been slighted by the company, or their practices are suspect, let UDE know. After all, although the re-distributor has placed disclaimers on the packaging, it does negatively impact UDE (and other than posibly liscencing royalties, they are not mking a lot on the resales, at least not enough to allow the sully of their name).

Yeah, I stopped buying those 'Bonus Ultra Inside!' packs. I already have enough of the dang Sphinxs. And I ain't talking Guardian Sphinx.

On the plus side, at least you know they didn't scale out the FET packs. I'm saddened on this one, Target's distributor was pretty good about being clear or showing you exactly what you were getting. The "Ultra Inside" is so ... Wal-Mart-y.

Was the pack from Excel Marketing or some other distributor? It usually says on the back.

edit: I suppose it's also possible that not all Targets use the same distributor, too. Ours has Excel stuff. Never any good, but not very sneaky either.

Well..no offense to anyone here, but if you think you're gonna get something better than a Starter/Structure Deck Holo from one of those, then you're setting yourself up for disappointment. I'm actually surprised you got the Movie Sphinxes. Some people would consider than an upgrade.

And the package didn't do any false advertising. If it advertised two Holofoils, then that's what you got. You should never presume that their going to be Holofoils that you actually want are that are of trade value. That's not what the package advertised. In short, you got what's advertised. Just like anything else you buy, it is always Buyer Beware.

Same as when they give you 3 extra cards and charge a dollar more. Those are almost always Starter/Structure deck commons. I just view those deals as getting the packs and possibly getting something decent in the process extra but not expecting much (like I got a common DD Warrior Lady out of 1 of them.)

very true. I suppose some people would have been disappointed with the 3 card bonus when you buy two packs of POTD. But for me, I was able to get back 2 Peten, which I had been missing. Its all about what you want.

However, thanks at least for letting us know what the actual holos are. This will save a lot of people some grief and money, if they want to avoid those Sphinxes.

Like everyone else, I just can't believe people still buy those "Special Packs". I love the package deals where you can get 2 Packs. But I stopped buying those "extra cards" a couple years ago when all it was was a few Starter Deck Yugi Cards (although I think I did at least get a extra Last Will from one...), which is why I will probably wait for the F.G.D. to come out in the single promo Blister, and get it that way, rather than buy the Dino Deck.

I really liked it better when they just Blisterized the Packs together in sets of 3. Those where the days......

I've gotten some good cards out of packs like those before though. I got a Blue Eyes White Dragon and Black Magician before.

Black Magician??? You mean "Dark Magician"? Anyway, the packs themselves tend to have decent cards, but the "Bonus Cards" aren't always much of a real bonus, and I doubt the cards you are mentioning were Bonus Cards.

well. The original translations from most of the cards including "black" were translated to dark from japanese to english. Many other alterations were made for many of the card's names

I know that. Which is why I asked which card he was talking about, as I havent seen any Japanese Cards being offered in the Bonus Packs, so the implication was, either he prefers to call Dark Magician, "Black Magician", or he actually got a Asian Territory Card.

No, I got the Dark Magician card. However, I refuse to use some of the English names, especially for the DEATH Ouja Board, the Magicians, and the God Cards (especially since changing Osiris to Slifer is an insult to all of Egypt).

Reminds me of a time when I was still in law school and my wife came home with a few of the "bonus packs" thinking she was doing me a favor and I got 3 stacks of Yugi Deck Starter commons and was out about 12 bucks. So sad, it could have been a pizza...
