Does Giant Trunade return itself to the owner's hand?

Hello

My son recently obtained Giant Trunade and we are wondering the following...

If Giant Trunade is played, when all other Spells and Traps return to the respective owner's hands, does Giant Trunade also go back to the owner's hand or is it sent to the graveyard?

My gut feel is that it also goes back to the hand, making it a very effective card, since it can be played next turn again.

Thanks

Giant Trunade does not return itself to your hand when played face-up.  After returning all Spell and Traps to hand, it goes to the Graveyard after the resolution.

Would be nice if it could though.

On a side note, cards like Call of the Haunted would destroy the monster it is equipped to if it is removed from the field using Giant Trunade, unless its Jinzo of course, but Premature Burial has no effect when returned to hand and is reusable as well.

So be careful when you use it.

Are you sure? I think that,in this case,Call of the Haunted isn't removed from the field, but only returned to player's hand; so the monster is safe...

(excuse me for my terrible english :p)

You have right Joey Wheeler

When this card is destroyed or removed from the field, the summoned monster is destroyed.

And Giant Turnade brings Call of the Haunted back to the hand so the monster isn't destroyed

Call Of The Haunted

The condition of the Special Summon is the same as Monster Reborn. The difference is that this card allows you to Special Summon a monster from YOUR OWN Graveyard IN FACE-UP ATTACK POSITION ONLY. So you can Special Summon a high level monster but cannot Special Summon certain Special Summon-only monsters like "Gate Guardian", Fusion Monsters, Ritual Monsters or Toon Monsters unless
they are Special Summoned to the field in the correct way and are then destroyed.

"Giant Trunade" vs. this card: If Call of the Haunted is returned to your hand by "Giant Trunade", etc., the monster Special Summoned by Call of the Haunted is destroyed.

To try to clarify a little.

Call Of The Haunted
Continuous Trap

Select 1 monster from your Graveyard and Special Summon it in face-up Attack Position. When this card is removed from the field, destroy the monster. When the monster is destroyed, destroy this card.

When a card says "removed from the field", that means either by destroying it and sending it to the graveyard (say by Mystical Space Typhoon), just sending it to the graveyard (Emergency Provisions), or if it is returned to your hand (Giant Trunade or Spiritualism). The reasoning behind this, "Call of the Haunted" simply isn't on the field anymore... it's elsewhere. Now, of course you can re-set Call of the Haunted and re-activate it on the next turn to bring that monster back. The reason why that differes from "Premature Burial" is because PB specifically says that it has to be destroyed in order to destroy the monster it was equipped with.

Also that wasn't mentioned, cards that are chained to the activation of "Giant Trunade", even though they stay on the field until the chain resolves, all are sent to the Graveyard when Giant Trunade resolves as well as Giant Trunade itself. GT will only return face down S/T cards, face up continous S/T cards, and Field Spell cards.

Just to specifically state (as I am a fan), using [Giant Trunade] while [Toon World] is on the field will NOT destroy all Toon monsters currently in play, because [Toon World] is not being destroyed. However, the Toon monsters won't be able to attack directly.

Still, a combo with [Scapegoat], some strong Toon monsters (plus obviously [Toon World]), then with either [Giant Trunade] or [Skill Drain] will certainly be very effective. Imagine a [Blue-Eyes Toon Dragon] and 2 [Toon Summoned Skull] straight off (well, set [Scapegoat] and activate it during your opponent's End Phase). Lovely.

Sorry about going off on a tangent there.
