Asylum Outbreak
I use common cards. I use reprints. I prefer originals but not because of collector value. I just like having a pretty deck. My friend only has 1 "ashy" card. A SYE Axe of Despair plus an Elemental Hero Wildheart.

I however have two SD4 Mobius the Frost Monarch, two SD5 Royal Decrees, SD5 Mystic Swordsman LV4, SYE Axe of Despair, Heavy Storm, Gemini Elf, Exiled Force, Nobleman of Crossout and now Lighting Vortex.
I remember when I was the envy of'em all. I ended up trading Exiled Force, Nobleman of Crossout and Lighting Vortex to build decks that I don't even use. I think it's my obbession to build every type of deck at least once.

So my point, when you duel do you want your deck to blind your opponant into forfeiting or just trade to win?

I want both holos and their common versions.

Holos are more interesting. Especially the female cards, but really I want the holos of all cards.

I use common cards when I duel. Why? Because of the people who simply cannot comprehend that whole "don't take 'cut the cards' too literally" thing.

You mean when they bend your whole deck and you almost get kicked out of the tourny because of violent impulses. Not me, my fiend my friend:grin_jedi

Well, that, and worse.

I once had a jerk who bent one of my cards (a holo, unfortunately) while pretending to be cutting the cards. Then later, yelled at me for having a "marked" card in my deck, pointing to, you guessed it, the card he bent.

Since then, I've used commons as much as I can.

I think its more impressive to see someone win with a straightforward deck that is not very pretty yet very effective, than a fancy looking deck. Leave the fancy cards for the binders and plastic sheets.

which is why this gen of duelist insist they show they opponant everything. This kid played NoE end went through his whole deck in slow motion, instead of letting me scan though it for any Embodiament of Apophis's. I personally tell people not to lift my deck off of the table.

I have won with a deck full of commons (a Last Turn deck), but all my fancy cards are in my decks, becasue my family hates Yu-GI-OH and Destroyed my binders :(. Bad family bad bad go to the corner.
Ps. that's why I intend on making my kids the best duelist ever if I have any.

The holos typically stay in the binder. And then I use the commons for decks. Not so much in case my opponent bends them, but in case I do. lol.

Though I do like showing off my 1/e DCR D.D. Warrior Lady and 1/e PSV Nobleman of Crossout. Shininess is like rubbing salt in the wounds sometimes :D

I have holos only for collection purposes (they may cost a lot more several years from now and I could make a nice sale with them), for dueling I don't really care what I use, common or rare they all have the same effect and they all can be used, so I don't really put too much thought into that.

I do like having a "flashy" deck, but that doesn't mean that I'll go nuts to have all cards in a deck as holos. And yes, I've been expeled from a tournie because I "allmost" beat up an oponent that tried to bend my cards (on purpose I noticed...) :haveaday_

I'm thinking I should just put my pretty card in a book and play with the less expensive versons, but then what's the point of haveing them?

I swear this was the name of Watchtower cover article I saw once.

As far shiny cards go, well, I only get what's condusive to my build. And you ain't gonna find any shiny Offerings to the Doomed or Kaiser Colosseums in this game, at least as far as I know. :D

But I do protect my shiny and my commons alike. No one has ever attempted to mess with my cards, but I'm told the scar going across my right temple can give off the wrong impression. ;)

The point of having them is inherent and philosophical. It's one of those "If you have to ask, you'll never know" things. Many of us, myself included, just love having the holos. No concrete or logical way to put it. I guess it may be a sign of true geekiness on my part, but I honestly do "like" some cards, and I just enjoy having them. Then, of course, there's profit, but I'm dubious of that.

Wanna bet?

I admit I love holos, that's why I duel wiht them. In fact the only card I will never trade (or duel with) is my Rare Giant Soldier of Stone.

I have one too! :D And from my part there are 2 cards I would NEVAH trade! 1 is my ol' fave Summoned Skull (that was my very FIRST holo) and the other is my first BLS-EotB BUT And before someone starts "complaining", there is a reason for that one (besides, I've traded all the rest I got later on ;P). The storry behind this BLS-EotB was: I wen't to buy a book I wanted (if I remember corectly it was W.Gibson's "Neuromancer"). So I had some change, wich was exactly the price of ONE booster from IOC. So guess what, I got one and tadaaah a BLS-EotB inside! Lol :D

Hehe, I'm in the boat of if I can get it, I'll run it for the deck. I'm more than happy to get ahold of DB2 Archfiend Solders, a starter deck Lightning Vortex, and the like if it gets my "physical build" done. Though on occasion, the "prettiness" factor does play in for some of the oddball cards just because I think its fun. I'm quite happy flashing off my Inferno Hammer since the artwork on those were nice and I would probably spend some serious money (if I had it) to get a hold of an Angry Kuriboh 8^D

I guess I am more of a Holo-lover. I really don't like having Commons in my deck--- only unless the cards have no other rarity. My current deck only has 5 Commons in it--- 3 Smashings and 2 Wildhearts...:biggrin_j

I could say that having the highest rarity of a card at the shop, is like a small competetion. We are constantly trying to best each other... If I could only get a Tp4 Royal Decree and Tp2 Morphing Jar.....:drool_jed

To be honest though, I believe that having a Holo deck is more of a status icon. You will notice that most of the constant Regional players (the ones that play more Regionals then Locals) will have decks that are just blindingly bright, and usually packing 1 or 2 D.D. Warriors....

i like shiny for some reason..i just cant help it....my decks are kind of a mix of both holo and commons altho mostly holos..like my first ed ultra Snatch Steal thas slowly decaying...altho i am rethinking just using the commons coz some of my holos are starting to get a bit messed up...

I like to collect the shiney ones (<snort> Come to me my little pretty!) and play the common ones.

Last Friday I played an all commons deck, something I made just to have to show the kids you can make a competitive deck and not spend a small fortune....it got me to top 4 of the local tournament (nearly to the finals)

Overheard a funny conversation that same night....someone said, "I like the way he blinged out his deck" <laffin> referring to the way someone had used all holos and 1st ed. in their deck.

Quite honestly when I'm playing, I never even notice the cards other than the name and text, if I'm impressed it's with a player's demenor, their preperation, and their play.
