Double Dude is causing double doubt...

Da Twiggy Man!
Alright, what a bad joke of a thread title that is. XD

Ok, this has been annoying me lately. Based off of Destiny Hero - Double Dude's card text, it says he can't be Special Summoned. I don't recall any card that has an effect that activates in the Deck or is considered to have an effect while in the Deck. He also doesn't have the wording to suggest that his effect prevents him from being Special Summoned from his hand. It just looks like a blanket statement. Thus, I'm concluding from this that you can use Mystic Tomato and Hidden Soldiers to Special Summon him onto the field.

My gut tells me that he simply can't be Special Summoned at all. However, I keep doubting myself on this and I need another opinion. =)

Well, you can't use Mystic Tomato to Special Summon Tsukuyomi, or for that matter any Spirit Monster, so I would presume that the blanket statement "This card cannot be Special Summoned" applies to all "zones". Deck, hand, etc.

"This card cannot be Special Summoned."

It doesn't get any more clear than that....oh...wait...yes it does....

"This card cannot be Special Summoned.....Period."

There...that's about as clear as it can get.....lol.

LOL!, man thanks skey, that way of putting it really cleared things up XD

I don't know of any effects that are active in the deck, either. But this is not an effect. It is a condition placed on the card. It remains true even if there is something trying to negate monster effects, or even if it's in the deck.

Maybe there should be a separate location on the card for text that is neither effect nor flavor text?

No way. That's be far too sensible. That'd be like separating a card effect into cost and effect parts.

Not to mention that they would need to make the cards bigger to fit the text, which would mean....*gasp* Magic-sized sleeves would fit <plants tongue firmly in cheek>. Seriously, the texts are getting a little rediculous. Some are so long now they don't fit on RONIN. Soon the adults will be playing with magnifying glasses.

Add to the list.
Dark Sage
Metalzoa
Red-Eyes Black Metal Dragon

Add to the list familar-possessed aussa/wynn/hiita/eria, all of whom can be special summoned from the deck by their particular effect.

Of course, this leaves the problem of trying to remember just exactly what is written on the card, whilst it is in the deck, in order that one may correctly activate the effect...

Has anyone had the problem before of someone declaring a summon of the card, search through their deck to find the card, only to find that they got the summon wrong?

Twice. And then the third time he wanted to summon it, he chose to resist the urge, and instead sit there with a grimace on his face as he slowly lost the duel. Then when it was over, he looked, and found he could have summonned it.

Fortunately, I have a photographic memory which almost never lets me down. Oh, and I don't use any of those cards. >_>
