Dramatic Rescue MFC-097

Trap

You can only activate this card when a monster on your side of the field that includes "Amazoness" in its card name, or is named "Amazon Archer", is specifically designated as a target by a card. Return the targeted Monster Card to its owner's hand and Special Summon another monster from your hand in face-up Attack or Defense Position.

This card does for Amazoness what Tutan mask does for zombies only better. It includes monster targeting effects AND you get to replace the monster that was getting effect for something else that you may want to get destoryed or simply take the hit (i.e. Makyura the Destroyer). Better yet you can special summon high level monsters with tributing. Say the opponent activiates a 'Ring of Destruction' on one of your amazoness, Use Dramatic to bring out something like Jinzo or a witch/sangan. Jinzo would stop it cold (as well as any other trap they had in mind afterward) or your searcher would allow you get another much need monster. But you don't even have to go to those limits to really enjoy it. It' can stop control switching cards like snatch steal. Snatch steal or change of heart effects disappear because they didn't target the new monster (assuming they were activiated BEFORE Dramatic resolved). Though you can't use against Creature Swap since selection happens when it resolves.

Take note that if the opponent chains dramatic with something that destroys the amazoness before dramatic takes effect, it's effect disappears. So if they activiate Ring of Destruction AFTER you activiate Dramatic, then it's effect disappears since the monster was destroyed.

Actually, unless I'm mistaken, if the Amazoness/Amazon Archer is targeted by Ring of Destruction, or any targeting effect for that matter, then returned to the hand via Dramatic Rescue, etc., the targeting effect would disappear because targets are chosen at activation. The chosen target would be gone and the targeting effect would disappear.

dramatic rescue... is it a:

a. good card b. situational card c. staple for amazoness decks card...

all of the above... playtesting with it, and with my amazoness deck, reveals that two of this card is the optimal number. 3 can be a hassle, and 1 is ok... actually, 1 may be better than 2 at times.

it sure does protect your amazons... a lot. i just wish it included that if the amazon was attacked, you could use it too. that way, amazoness archers and dramatic rescue would both be able to uber protect your amazons. the only problem with this card is that you have to have another monster in your hand to use it, and if that monster is a 4 star or lower, its kind of a waste, IMO. thats why i only run in my main deck... (1 in my side deck, just in case)

Rating: (for amazoness decks)
Traditional: 2/5 - You probably wont have too many cards in your hand or be able to maintain this card and an amazon on the field for too long.
Advanced: 4/5 - Rating shoots up because of the lack of hand and mass monster/spell/trap removal.

Artwork: 3.5/5 - its a pretty interesting picture... sure does look dramatic, but i wouldve preferred some arrows in the heads of those other people there...

Oh yeah, if you activiate Dramatic in response to their targeting effect, Dramatic saves the monster. However if they respond to Dramatic with a targeting effect like 'ring of destruction' then Dramatic's effect will disappear since Ring of destruction would resolve first, destroying the monster and thus making Dramatic's effect useless.

Ex. They activiate 'Snatch steal' on one of their Amazoness. You respond with Dramatic Rescue. They counter Dramatic with 'Ring of Destruction'. Resolving things backward, Dramatic (which would have saved the monster) becomes useless since the monster was destroyed due to Ring of Destruction.

Dramatic Rescue can do a lot more than save your Amazoness from your opponent's card effect. Target it yourself with an equip card and you can bring out a tribute monster and still have the Amazoness in hand. Use Malevolent Nuzzler as the equip, pay the 500, and next turn you can resummon the Amazoness with a 700 boost. Not a bad deal at all.
