DW vs CED

TP has a set Compulsory Evacuation Device from a previous turn.
NTP has a Goldd in his hand.
TP activates Card Destruction.

Card Destruction resolves normally.
Now Goldd is Special Summoned and gets his often unused effect.

When TP uses CED to return Goldd to NTP's hand, does Goldd's effect still resolve?

Of course it still gets the effect. It was successfully summoned, and its effect only activates after a successful summon has occurred.

Returning him to hand only prevents him from being "on" the field when the destruction part of his effect resolves.

I thought the Summoning and the destruction both occur at resolution? So when Golld's effect activates, he is still in the Graveyard, and is not a valid target for CEvD until after his effect resolves and destroys cards.

Yes, the Special Summoning and the destruction happen in the same chain link.

And here's an even better 'kicker'...;)

Since you target the 2 cards for destruction when Goldd's effect activates in the Graveyard, not when it hits the field, if "Compulsory Evacuation Device" was targeted for destruction at that time, the TP must have chained it when it was targeted. If they didn't, then they cannot chain it before it's destroyed by "Goldd's" effect.

Based off the example given, I'd say the scenario isn't legal anyway as "Compulsory Evacuation Device" would have already been destroyed by the time the TP could respond to the Special Summon of "Goldd".

so the only way to avoid goldd's effect from triggering, would be to use a trap that negates special summoning: black horn of heaven, solemn judgement, royal oppression.

In fact Solemn and Black horn of heaven wont be able to negate it either, because when Goldd's Effect activate, he isnt on the field, but when he hits the field, both of them would be long dead, and you can't chain with dead cards (would be good if you were able to but... :p)

If "Royal Oppression" is already face-up, then yes, you can use it to negate his effect and he will stay in the Graveyard, exactly as you would with "Divine Wrath".

"D.D. Crow" works as well...;)
