well you got me there *thinking...thinking some more* :) , I'm just not a real doom lord fan. I'll admit its ability could be nice in a variety of situations, but in the current meta, you'll rarely see one of those situations. It may work as a last resort, but since the effect only lingers for 2 turns AND you're forced to skip your battlephase, its just not worth the effort I think.

What??! The Ojama Trio will never forgive you for that. ;p In an era of high aggression, being able to lock the field from their monsters means that their draws become stagnant. Having protection is crucial though.

True, but if you're going for field control, doom lord is just not the right card. There are various different cards that have more consistent and overall effective effects. I see doom lord like chaos sorcerer's little brother who's just been taught how to remove monsters but hasn't been able to finish his studies after his big bro got banned :) ;) . Anyway, as for the field control issue. You ought to think primarely about your own field before clearing your opponent's side of it. hydrogeddon for example will do that for you in one devastating blow. And there are still other options like treeborn frog. Personally, I'm now using a macro-deck, and I have to say that you can gain serious field control with it, some people just can't stand the sight of my survivors :).
