Emergency alteration of the Advanced format lists in May?

I've been hearing rumors that the list will be receiving an emergency revision before May 17th. Now I know UDE doesn't like changing the list in the middle of the current format but they have done it before.


Have DAD and OTK decks really gotten so bad that UDE/Konami is going through the hassle to balance the game more before nationals?
 
maybe. In my opinion the 'call of the haunted' & 'monster reborn' switch made many people upset. I was personaly shocked to see one of the power house cards come back.
 
I think DAD needs to be limited to one. The others aren't that big a deal and still easy to control but special summoning 3 DADs at one time hurts anyone.
 
Well, most of the people I have talked to would love to see these changes:

Dark Armed Dragon - 1
Destiny Draw - 2
Allure of Darkness - 1

The reason, draw power. The draw power for the DAD deck is simply sick and wrong. I played against it and I have to say, yeah, too much draw power.

I would definitely support DAD and Allure getting restricted to 1 each.
 
i'm not so bothered by the allure of darkness but DAD is annoying you summon it and instantly get to destroy 3 cards on the field and attack it stupidaly powerful. If you had to have exactly 3 dark monster in the graveyard and have to remove the 3 dark monsters in the graveyard from play then it would be harder to use and not so annoying.
they banned the envoy monsters and in my opinion this stronger the any of these 3.
so i say it should be banned.

BLS-EOTB could remove 1 monster and not attack or it could attack destroy the monster and attack once again in a row.

CED-EOTE may destroy everything on the field and send all cards in both players hand to the graveyard then do 300 points for each card but it also destroyed its self and left the owner without any cards til there next turn unless they destroyed sangan.

although alot smaller than them 2 chaos sorcerer was a mini envoy of the beginning as it could remove 1 face up monster from play and not attack that turn.

and they all had the same summoning cost remove 1 light and 1 dark monster in the graveyard from play.
 
Banning Dimension Fusion should fix alot of things. Seriously, if DAD doesn't go off. (e.g. removal deck, D.D. Crow) it's plan B with Dimension Fusion. In fact, it's the D Fusion/RftDD combo after field nuke with DAD and bringing back DMoC, Jinzo, Darklord Zerato that's the problem.
 
Here lie the opinions of a man who does not play the game...

The "removed from play" zone really should mean just that. There are far too many cards nowadays that treat it as just the Second Graveyard. And particularly, Dimension Fusion and Return from the Different Dimension allow you to Summon multiple monsters (as many as possible, in fact), from the D.D. Zone. And that's just wrong.

Also, with Dimension Fusion banned, a lot of people will think twice before removing from play all their good monsters. It's a single card that can seriously sway the game, often to the point of "pay Dimension Fusion and win", and I'm surprised UDE hasn't banned it already because of this. Dark Hole is still banned, even though it affects both players (if they want to use that as an excuse for keeping Dimension Fusion). Lots of Decks use it, most of which depend on it, and they really shouldn't. Banning it will kick those people into trying to play properly.

From a conceptual and a practical standpoint, I say ban Dimension Fusion. Forever.
 
There are very few cards that Special Summon more than one monster at a time, and I believe the mechanic is too powerful.

"Dimension Fusion" needs to go.

DMoC's stats are too powerful to exist as is. He needs a watered down version.

DAD can go to one because of how it is worded.

Stratos I'd take down, I'm tired of D Heroes being played in every #1 deck of the format. Stratos is a good chunk of change, pays for itself at the least with opportunity to gain potential advantage, or deal you instant advantage straight off. It searches too much. Every player that runs the DAD variants know that the best opening to begin aall of that crazy mill is with a simple RotA to Stratos to Plasma, etc. It's ridiculous.

Banning DAD would still allow the DMoC/Dimension Fusion/Spell Economics/Shadowpriestess of Ohm FTK which doesn't use DAD at all. I think it should be Dimension Fusion or DMoC.

Personally, I'd prefer to see DMoC banned and Magician of Faith brought back.

According to my reliable sources (although it's still a rumour, albeit a strong one)...

IF they are going to "emergency ban" anything, it will not be until the end of May or the first 2 weeks in June. UDE are still in talks with Konami over this. Konami prefers to wait until after the World Championships. UDE want to push it beforehand.

Also, if anybody is hoping that any more than 1-2 cards get banned/limited, they are in for a rude shock.

As far as I know, the ONLY two cards up for contention are Dimension Fusion & Return From The Different Dimension, with the most possible scenario being Dimension Fusion will be banned & Return From The Different Dimension will be limited.

That is all this "emergency" will entail.

As for cards like Dark Magician of Chaos, Monster Reborn, Dark Armed Dragon (et al), you will have to wait until September for that, but with RFG recursion almost dead (apart from Different Dimension Revival & Escape From The Different Dimension), I cannot see them touching DAD.
They MAY limit D.D.R come September.

Also, with DMoC banned (which is VERY likely to happen come September), Monster Reborn doesn't pose that much of a threat & is actually quite balanced.

How I see this going down is:

Emergency:
Ban: Dimension Fusion
Limit: Return From the Different Dimension

September:
Ban: Dark Magician of Chaos, Destiny Hero- Disk Commander, Magical Explosion, (with Dimension Fusion already emergency banned)

Limit: Allure of Darkness, Different Dimension Reincarnation, Chaos Sorcerer (with RFG recursion almost dead & Allure on 1, he poses no real threat), Breaker the Magical Warrior (most traps are chainable now), Magician of Faith, Caius the Shadow Monarch, (with Return From The Different Dimension already emergency limited)

Semi Limit: Trade-In, Reasoning, Scapegoat (yes, I see this coming back at 2), D.D Warrior Lady, Mystical Space Typhoon & Magic Cylinder.

Unlimit:

Wow, Necro, if you're right, I can't wait! I'd love to have MoF back and see Allure limited to one. Mystical Space Typhoon at 2?!?!? and Magic Cylinder?!?! yikes!
