Equip Spell Card Vs. Equip Card

Since we have new ruling regarding Equip Cards. I need a verification from the community on which of the following assumptions is accurate:

ESC = "Equip Spell Cards"
EC = "Equip Cards"

First assumption (ESC is sub-set of EC):
  1. EC is a super-set that includes ESC; Hence, ESC is a sub-set of EC
  2. EC has the same behavior as ESC in terms of "it must have a valid target to exist on the field" and "can only be equiped to a face-up monster". So, if we say EC has this behavior, then naturally, ESC must have the same behavior.
  3. Any card that affects EC will also affect ESC, but any card that affects ESC will not affect EC.
Second assumption (EC is sub-set of ESC):
  1. ESC is a super-set that includes EC; Hence, EC is a sub-set of ESC
  2. ESC has the same behavior as EC in terms of "it must have a valid target to exist on the field" and "can only be equiped to a face-up monster". So, if we say ESC has this behavior, then naturally, EC must have the same behavior.
  3. Any card that affects ESC will also affect EC, but any card that affects EC will not affect ESC.
Third assumption (ESC and EC are separate and non-intersecting Set):
  1. EC is a Set and ESC is another Set. Both are different, separate, and non-intersecting Set.
  2. Both EC and ESC have the same behavior in terms of "it must have a valid target to exist on the field" and "can only be equiped to a face-up monster".
  3. Any card that affects EC will only affect EC and not affect ESC. Any card that affects ESC will only affect ESC and not affect EC.
Examples of Errata:

Armored Glass
(Pharaoh's Servant)
You can only activate this card when a monster is equpped with an Equip Card. Negate the effects of all Equip Cards on the field during the turn this card is activated.

Blast with Chain
(Legacy of Darkness)
After activation, this card is treated as an Equip Card. Select 1 monster you control and equip it with this card to increase the ATK of the selected monster by 500 points. When this card is destroyed by the effect of another card while it is an Equip Card, select 1 card on the field and destroy it.

Burning Beast
(Magician's Force, Dark Revelation vol.1)
Once per turn, during your Main Phase, if you control this monster on the field, you can equip it to your "Freezing Beast" as an Equip Card, OR unequip the Union equipment and Special Summon this card in face-up Attack Position. While equipped to a monster by this card's effect, each time the equipped monster inflicts Battle Damage to your opponent, destroy 1 face-up Spell or Trap Card on the field. (1 monster can only be equipped with 1 Union Monster at a time. If the equipped monster is destroyed as a result of battle, destroy this card instead.)

Collected Power
(Labyrinth of Nightmare)
Select 1 face-up monster on the field. Equip this monster with all face-up Equip Cards on the field. If the target of the Equip Card is not correct, destroy the Equip Card.

Dark Necrofear
(Labyrinth of Nightmare, Duelist League 2)
This card cannot be Normal Summoned or Set. This card can only be Special Summoned by removing from play 3 Fiend-Type monsters in your Graveyard. If this card is destroyed as a result of battle or by your opponent's card effect while it is a Monster Card, it is treated as an Equip Card during the End Phase of this turn, and equip 1 of your opponent's monsters with this card. As long as it is equipped with this card, you control the equipped monster.

ETC...

OK here is my summary:
  1. "Equip Cards" must have a legal target on the field to exist, if not, it will be destroyed by Game Mechanics.
  2. "Equip Cards" must target a face-up monster on the field, unless stated by other effects, such as "Relinquished"/TER
  3. There are TWO types of "Equip Cards":
    1. "Equip Spell Cards"
      • This includes Spell Cards with Equip Icons
      • This includes monsters that becomes Equip Cards (some examples are Union Monsters, monsters sucked by "Relinquished" and TER, and "Kiseitai")
    2. "Equip Trap Cards"
  4. If a card affects "Equip Cards" then both "Equip Spell Cards" and "Equip Trap Cards" are affected. (examples are "Armored Glass" and "Collected Power")
  5. If a card affects only "Equip Spell Cards" then it only affects "Equip Spell Cards" and WON'T affect "Equip Trap Cards" (examples are "Imperial Order" and "Spell Canceller")
  6. If a card affects onlly "Equip Trap Cards" then it only affects "Equip Trap Cards" and WON'T affect "Equip Spell Cards" (can someone insert examples here)
  7. "Equip Trap Cards" are still negated by "Jinzo" and "Royal Decree" because they are still considered Trap Cards.

Lets see if I have this down.

Spell cards with the Equip Card mark are considered Equip Spell cards.

Monster cards that become Equip Cards are considered Equip Spell cards.

Trap cards that become Equip Cards are NOT considered Equip Spell cards, but are Equip Cards. (example: Blast With Chain)

Right?
Traps are not just "Equip Cards"

They are Equip Trap Cards.

So:

Spell Cards = Equip Spell Cards

Trap Cards = Equip Trap Cards

Monster Cards = Equip Spell Cards

Thats it...simple.

Somehow we need to squash the idea that an "Equip Card" is somehow it's own entity seperate from Spell and Trap.

"An 'Equip Card' is any card that is equipped to a face-up monster on the field." was not suggesting that it was a type all on its own. Anymore than a "Spell Card" is it's own entity. There aren't "only" Spell Cards and every other Spell is a different kind of card. Spell Cards absolutly have to be a type of Spell Card (Normal, Continuous, Equip . . .). In the same way Equips absolutley have to be a kind of Equip. Since now we have two kinds it was unforseen that Brain Jacker and other cards with similar text would cause so much confusion with the new rules. I for one can't for the life of me understand why, if these were always the Game Rules in Japan, why in Sam Hill did they let us play the game differently, or incorrectly, for so many years? Why does the American game, or any other translation of the game, have to differ at all? That seems inconsistant and nonsensicle. And a little disrespectful, for that matter.

The way I see this is:
  1. "Equip Card" is to Human
  2. "Equip Spell Card" is to Male
  3. "Equip Trap Card" is to Female
So, if you want to talk about Male and Female, you say Human. If you want to talk about "Equip Spell Card" and "Equip Trap Card", you talk about "Equip Card"

DISCLAIMER: I am not suggesting that Male or Female is supperior than the other, but just using male and female as an example.

Great analogy. Now, if anybody compares "Equip Card" to an androginine I'll spam the fire out them.:D (Just kidding.)
