Errata Question

Since Necrovalley was errata-ed, does this mean that it now negates Vampire Lord, Dark Necrofear (revival for Equip Card), Twin-Headed Behemoth, etc.?
Because the new text states:
Necrovalley Field Spell Card
(Pharaonic Guardian, Duelist League 3, Dark Revelation vol.1)
As long as this card remains on the field, negate the effects of Spell, Trap,

and Monster Cards that affect a card(s) in the Graveyard, and neither
player can remove cards in the Graveyards from play. Also, as long as
this card remains on the field, increase the ATK and DEF of all
monsters that include "Gravekeeper's" in their card name by 500 points.

No, I still don't think it negates Necrofear's revival VLord and the like. Necrovalley still negates cards that affect the graveyard, such as Soul Release, but it still will not stop those cards that are reviving from the graveyad.

Affecting the graveyard is the key there. Removing monsters to SS Necrofear is affecting it, have Necrofear revive itself from it is not. Necrofear pulling itself out, isn't affecting the graveyard in the strict sense that its talking about. Essentially when the graveyard is "affected", a card outside of the graveyard is targeting it. Necrofear, while in the graveyard and targeting itself, doesn't qualify.

Thanks my 10 bits. Anybody else have a better explanation of it? 8^D

Necrovalley means to negate cards that designate cards in the graveyard and/or removing cards.

Effects that activate while in the graveyard, like Sacred Pheonix of Nephthys, does not effect the graveyard by targetting. It's effect simply just activates while in the graveyard.

Oh, and effects like Sacred Pheonix of Nephthys or Vampire Lord do not "designate themselves" when there effects trigger, because cards cannot "target themselves" that's why Necrovalley does not negate effects that activate in the graveyard.

I hope I helped chaosruler :D

...and that is the very key...

Necrovalley does not negate effects generated from within the Graveyard.

Necrovalley only negates an effect "outside" the Graveyard that attempts to target a card(s) in the Graveyard, or manupulate the Graveyard in some way.

That is why it does not negate Dark Necrofear, Vampire Lord...etc...

Night Assailant is a card that activates its effect in the graveyard and also targets a card in the graveyard, but its effect is negated by Necrovalley. The effect doesn't have to come from outside the graveyard to be negated.

Night Assailant does not target itself, however

The rulings on Necrovalley say:

"Necrovalley" will NOT negate effects that are activated when a card is sent TO the Graveyard or that activate IN the Graveyard or that count cards in the Graveyard. So it will NOT negate the effects of "Sangan", "Witch of the Black Forest", "Black Pendant", "Giant Rat", "Mystic Tomato", "Kuriboh", "Graceful Charity", "Sinister Serpent", "Marie the Fallen One", "Buster Blader", "Shadow Ghoul", "Helpoemer", "Sword of Deep-Seated", "Vampire Lord", "Coffin Seller", and "Magical Thorn".

True, Night Assailant has changed it a bit. The ruling posted by chaosruler supports my previous statement, but it was probably written prior to the release of Night Assailant.

Better said, effects such as Dark Necrofear, Vampire Lord, Sinister Serpent do not "self-target" as there is no such thing, they are infact non-targeted effects and will not be negated by Necrovalley.

"Necrovalley" will NOT negate effects that do not target a card or cards in the Graveyard. So "Necrovalley" will NOT negate the effects of "Dark Necrofear" (when destroyed and sent to the Graveyard), "Revival Jam", "Winged Sage Falcos", "Twin-Headed Behemoth", "Mystical Knight of Jackal", and "Red-Moon Baby".
