...who here takes it seriously?

not the e word.
no i do very little of the e word.
i get all exercise at work as i work in warehouse.
i also get a little bit when i play on my nintendo wii.

Currently I'm playing racquetball once a week with my father-in-law. I love it and it keeps me in some shape. I used to do it twice a week, but with the twins now, the Mrs. has thursday nights to do her thing.

Up through college I used to run. Now that I'm in the mountains I REALLY want to get back into that groove, more for the love of running than the exercise per se, but it always helps.

Then again, having twin 1 year olds seems to be PLENTY of exercise. Speaking of which, I think I hear one of them getting into something... 8^D

I've always believed in trying to attain a good balance of mind, body, and spirit...not that I often attain it mind you, it seems that demands and responsabilities most often keep that delacate balance from happening.

I'm afraid I've been on ends of the off balance of that goal that are unhealthy and unwise, drifted away from each to extremes and been involved in over indulgence in each nearly to extremes.

I consider exercise an important part of my life and consider it unwise and unhealthy to let myself not do so for too long. No doubt that we all are more effcient, healthier, and focus much better when our bodies are as well exercised as our minds.

ya exercise for me isnt really voluntary, my dad kinda forces me to work with him for no pay >_>, climbing 50 feet up to feed electrical wires to my dad in a mall isnt really what id want to be doing, mall=fine work(with no pay mind you)=bad

But back to the point i usually get my exercise

Not when the curls are made of potatoes. :D

Well, the reason I ask, is I've been trying it out. At a better more consistent rate then ever before. (Not saying much, when a week is more consistent then ever before, but hey, why split hairs?) In any case, I'm way too out of shape lately. Gotten way bigger then I've ever been. And I don't particular feel healthy. So I'm at the end of my rope with it. I think my health is affecting my sleep and concentration, and if I don't do something soon, well, I'm certain I'll just keep declining.

But I've never really exercised consistently before. My body doesn't like it. In fact, I've got a fever right now, and my muscles are (for lack of a better word) sore (though that's not quite what it feels like), and I'm certain it has something to do with the exercise I've been doing. I'm not looking forward to it, but I know I'm going to feel worse, before I feel better. Most of you don't know this, but I can't seem to get over stuff for the last, well, forever actually. I've constantly got something, be it a cold, or stomach flu or nausea. Once one thing goes, something else takes it's place. I'm just sick and tired of being sick and tired. I like being healthy. Just haven't been there in a while.

While the muscle soreness is likely from your exercise, if you've come down with something (there are a couple of things going around it seems right now, one low grade flu that seems to hang of for 2-3 weeks in paticular) it's the cause for everything else.

For most people, it takes about 2-3 weeks to get into the habit of exercising and become accustom to it, once that initial period is over the vast majority of people find they have more energy, sleep better, have a more calm demenor, and all effects positive.

Good luck! Keep it up.

TELL ME ABOUT IT!!! I am into my second week of it now & I STILL feel like crap.
Maybe if I had exercised.....:p

Excercise is bad for you. It turns you into a guy that works in a gym and is a personal trainer and is your girlfriends brother that makes you do excercises and tells you you eat too many fatty foods even though you have started eating much healthier than you ever have before.

I hate excercising.

Thanks, John. Fever seems to have broke today. But it gave me a fit sleeping last night. I found myself kinda missing doing the routine yesterday, right up until I got that fever, of course. But I really needed a day of (sort of) rest.

One of the things I hope it does is give me better focus. I'm one of those people that likes to do a lot of things, but can't focus on one long enough to get it finished. Exercising has always been one of those things too, so I'm facing the ultimate test here. If I can't do this, I don't think I can do much of anything anymore. :duel_yes :haveaday :crying

My brother...works out twice a week at the gym, lives on Musashi & whey shakes..he's like:
"ooh, i'm so pumped now...feel my muscles...nobody's gonna look sideways at my wife again...I'll just say "whats YOUR problem mate?..etc etc"
Then he gets bronchitis (where I caught it from) & is waylaid in bed for a month..all his muscles turn to flab & fat..then he goez:
"darnit..a few of these muscles need to be torn again...no pain no gain...no pain no gain..etc etc"
I get exhausted just watching him work out..thats my exercise..

ooh beyond some more pleasurable exercise I COULD mention, but I wont, for the sake of any stray kiddies that may be around. :naughty

PS After all antibiotics failed to work for my 'bro, his doctor prescribed steroids. I lol'd for a week after that.

I'm just doin' the garlic & echinacea thing..

<s> A common misconception, muscle cannot turn to fat, it's a biological impossibility. Muscle tissue can shrink and fat can bee added and it may appear as though muscle has been "turned into fat" but that's not the case.

DJ it's not at all unusual to "miss" working out, I mean to feel cheated by not doing so. A couple of the great things about exercise are that it very much does clear the mind. The biggest reason for this is that it takes focus to exercise, one tends to wipe everything else out of their mind because they need to focus to get the degree of exercise they wish....it's kind of a Zen thing, when you wipe everything else out of your mind but one thing and you're done with that one thing....your mind is clear and even rested to a degree, the clutter is gone. Now that the clutter is gone it's easy to focus...and with your mind accustomed to clearing itself....it knows better how to do so for other things.

Yeah, that's one of the best things I miss about running. Getting out there, feeling the body burn a little, letting the mind clear with the gorgeous trees and the smells. I never did run with an iPod or anything, just my own communion time. I couldn't run in Vegas because it was SOOO stinkin' hot. Now I just have to get back into the groove 8^D

LOL those popeye forearms must be a boon to your shuffleing... :p

another part of missing the workouts is the normal addiction to endorphins the body puts out... they aid immensely in keeping the body mentally fit as well as physically fit...
