Fake Trap

Fake trap will save my traps and my opponent can see them. After my opponent sees them, can I set them and shuffle them so that my opponent won't know which set cards is which.

How much is enough?

When you show your opponent that your set cards are traps. How much do they need to see. Since the cards are color coded, I would think that allowing them to see which color the card is would be enough.

The wording on netrep is kind of weird " If a Set card(s) would have been destroyed, pick up and see the Set card(s). ".

I guess my question is really about how much is enough.

Do you

1) Show them the color only
2) Show them the card completely
3) Show them the card completely and up close a personal so they can read the effect.

If you say #1 isn't enough and that it has to be #2, then I would say I'm going for #3, because I'm kind of slow and my eyes are bad. :) I'm going to have to look at that card up close for a good while just to let the fact that it's a trap card.

I know I'm being a bit silly about it, but really this could make a difference if you're using a trap that is not commonly used.

I would say you could make a ruling based on this:
Yugioh Policy documents Appendix A:
A-14. Search Effects

If a game effect instructs a player to search for a card in his or her Deck or retrieve a card from the Graveyard, and there are specific parameters regarding which card he or she may select (based on Level, card type, ATK/DEF, and so on), that player is usually required to reveal the card that he or she searched for to his or her opponent. The player must then shuffle his or her deck. Whenever a player reveals a card, he or she must show the entire card face to the opponent.

I would say the opponent would have the opportunity to look at the trap and read the text if he wanted to in a timely manner.

Which may not be legal. It's unfortunate that Fake Trap gives then a Sneak Peak at your cards. But there understandibly has to be a basic balance to it all. You couldn't limit the time sombody used to look at you cards with Mind Haxorz. It would be no different for Fake Trap.
And some people are SLOW readers. So I WOULD use some kind of rule. Not an inflexible one, just something to curb the possibilty for stalling. Have you any input on what the best rule for this is?

Let them read the card once, maybe twice, outloud. Let him say, "Oh this card makes it so..." and then we both move on. I used to run Fake Trap in triplicate years ago, and this was pretty much what I did. It's not something that ever really became a problem. The only time people got hestant was when they saw my set Offerings to the Dommed. And that was just funny to me.
