Field cards

I know the rule is: if there is an active field card on my side of the field, i can't activate another field card until the previous is destroyed. Is right?

"There can only be 1 active Field Spell Card on the field at any given time between both players. When a new Field Spell Card is activated, the previous active card is sent to the Graveyard." - Rulebook

Point being: No, the player who has a Field Spell card on his side of the field, cannot activate another one, the one already active must be destroyed first.

I don't know how recently it was changed, but if you still went to Edo's board (*stab stab*) you would've seen Steve O. telling us that you could. And sourcing from Kevin.

That's just absolutely crazy... How can you replace your own Field Card??? What is the mechanics behind this? In the S/T Zone, you cant play or set another card unless you have an available space, so if you dont have an "available" slot in your Field Card Zone, how can you destroy or send your own Field Card to the Graveyard or hand, without using another cards effect (aside from a new Field Card) to do so?

This is one of those cases where just saying, "you can do it" doesnt explain it away, especially since the rule book contradicts it. This is going to make a lot of "Gray Area's" when it comes to Continuous Spell/Trap Cards and no available Zones.

It's the same way I was trying to explain this fact to other duelists... OK, so we agree on this: even that rule not explicity says "It's impossible for a player who has an active field card in play to activate another field card", that player can't still activate another filed card because his filed card zone is full. OK, thank you.

so.. they just went ahead and created a rule which is letterly stated in the rulebook as impossible? i suppose we should view this as just a mishap in transelations while the game was being made English?

Thanks snake. But, if I have a filed card active, and my opponent activates a field of his, and I negate it with solemn judgement, magic jammer, etc. How we resolve since I am negating the activation?

well. judging from the ruling on curse of darkness.
" Curse of Darkness" inflicts 1000 damage right after the Spell Card is activated, not when it resolves. If the Spell Card's activation is negated however, such as with "Magic Jammer", then no damage is inflicted because the activation was negated.
it would seem that when a card is negated it never existed on the field and thus your field spell card is safe and will not be sent to the graveyard.

From the same link on the previous page, the existing face up field spell card is destroyed and sent to the graveyard upon the activation of the other field spell card. Therefore, even if the new field spell is negated with "Magic Jammer" or "Solemn Judgment", since the other one is already in the graveyard, it stays in the graveyard and there would be no field spell active.

Go figure.
