Fiend Skull Dragon LOD-EN039

This particular Archfiend usually sees use with "Magicial Scientist" or "Metamorphosis". It has 2 nice abilities, the ability to negate Trap Cards that Target it (so it's not going to be affected by "Ring of Destruction" or "Magic Cylinder") as well as negate the effects of FLIP monsters. Being a 5-Star Fusion monster, Scientist and Metamorphosis will likely be your 2 best ways to bring him to the field (even though he won't be considered "properly fusion summoned" so no Reborning). Otherwise you would HAVE to use "Cave Dragon" and "Lesser Fiend" with "Polymerization"/"Fusion Gate" to bring him to the field since he can only be Fusion Summoned using the exact monsters (no substitutes allowed). Despite that, he should be a staple in every fusion deck because his effects are very useful as well as provide added support for Archfiend monsters.

Now this is what I like to see, more fusions with good effects, I know Fusions and rituals don't see much play but damn stuff like this makes it even better to play fusions, If I ran an archfiend deck then yes, this bad boy would have be in there! A great monster all round!

I remember reading a combo with this card before...you use "Summoner of Illusions" to summon "Fiend Skull Dragon", and since "Fiend Skull Dragon" would negate "Summoner of Illusion's" effect, you basically just got a free fusion (apart from the monster you tributed )

I think this ruling is still legal now, but I'm not 100% sure.

I'm not sure if that effect would work to keep Fiend Skull Dragon alive. I think Scientist and SOI essentially put "added credentials" on to the monsters they special summon, which make them destroyed/returned EVEN if Scientist/SOI leave the field. I derive this from the Skill Drain ruling on Magical Scientist.

Anyway, I forgot about the negating power of Fiend Skull Dragon (and I'm supposed to be a fiend person!). One trick I learned early on is how nice Fiends play with Metamorphosis. A lot of the nasty ones are 5 star, which meld PERFECTLY with a lot of fiend monsters, one notorious one being Byser Shock. 8^D

Wow... That would be a pretty nice combo. But I seriously doubt anyone is going to do that(deliberately placing Illusionary Summoner to summon Fiend Skull Dragon)
