Forum confused

Hey everyone,

Now I read the Intro PM, though i'm still a bit confused around the forum, so I have just a few of questions about it.

1. What are the credits for, and how do I get a hold of them. Until now, seems they work for the arcade and I can get them by posting on the forum, but what else can I do with them and how else can I get them?

2. I find the whole concept of the forum awesome! But from what I have grassped there are like sub-forums for the forum (Yu-Gi, Magic, Gaming, etc) and a sort of lobby type sub-forum, but is there one for articles and such or is it in every sub-forum?

3. How can I identify authorities around the forum? Blue marked nicks seem to be like the Admins or such, but i'm not so sure.

Anyways those are my 3 questions as of now, i'm sure that as I stroll around i'll find some more.

Thanks in advance!

Question 1: I don't think there are other ways of earning the credits. I believe you just have to post on the forum or play in the arcade. I know the bigger (or more helpful) the post you make the more credits you earn. You also earn credits by logging in I believe.

Question 2: Again, I don't think there is an "article" forum. I know there is a "writers" forum but its not specifically for any type of articles. Its more like poetry and such.

Question 3: You are dead on with this one.

If you want the full skinny on who's who, click here http://www.cogonline.net/forums/showgroups.php

To get there, go to the top bars, click on the "FORUM" dropbox, click on "FORUM HOME", look at the TABS for "STAFF", click on that, at the top are two links, the right one says "View Forum Leaders" click that.

As for credits, you can also earn more by having them in your savings account.

BTW, Welcome to the city!!

1. Credits pretty much do nothing. All Arcade games are free to play, and only some of them have jackpots - if you buy an Arcade Pass (with credits), and you win first place on a game, you win the jackpot. That's all there is to it.

2. It depends entirely what kind of articles you're talking about. Articles about specific games/shows go in their own sections, and general articles... I don't actually think we've had any yet, so I'm not sure where they'd go.

3. Any name in a different font/colour to your own is someone in charge. Alternatively, if you're looking at a thread, look at the big "Moderator" banner just to the left there (there's ones for Administrator and so forth as well).

Hey! I just noticed....mine is "normal" now. Man, I paid good credits to get ine all pertyfied way back when you could do such a thing. Dang!

As far as Credits go, they actually do a lot more then that. The Arcade is not free to play unless you buy a pass, otherwise games are a lot more expensive. Once you buy a pass games are free, and then you can play the Jackpots to earn more (or less depending on how badly you do) :skull:.

Credits are also used for the forum integrated games (the ones not part of the arcade, but part of the forum), such as Triple Triad and Name that Tune.

Credits are required to purchase a Living Avatar and the accessories that go with that.

Credits can be accrued a number of different ways, but the primary way is posting. Credits are determined by word, letter and post count. So the more substantive a post is, the more points you'll get for it. Logging in also accrues you more points as does general activity, but all that is set to much smaller ratios then posting and starting threads.

You can also loose credits for things like being banned from the forums, or for having your post deleted. For post deletion, you just loose the points you earned for that thread normally, and for banning, we take a stiff penalty. But so far, we've never had to use that aspect of it. At least not since the Credits system was installed.

Also, that system to allow you guys to purchase items, is pretty much finished. I just have to do some customizing and studying of it to use it properly.

Oh yeah, welcome to CoG.
