Frontier Wiseman, Warrior-Type monsters & Equip Cards

I hope this question hasn't been asked before. I looked but couldn't find one similar. Don't be hard on me if it has Bishop! I think I know the answer before asking but I need definite expert help to stop feuding in my little duel circle. Frontier Wiseman reads: "As long as this card remains face-up on your side of the field, it negates the effects of Spell Cards that designate Warrior-Type monsters on your side of the field as targets and destroys the Spell Card." Does this mean as long as Frontier Wiseman is face up on the field that Equip Spell Cards like Legendary Sword, Fusion Sword Murasame Blade, Axe of Despair, etc. can not be equipped to a Warrior type monster of the player controlling Frontier Wiseman? In other words do equip spell cards target/designate? Thanks

Yes equip spell cards target, and yes Frontier Wiseman would negate/destroy them if they were targeting Warrior-type monsters.

Thanks, I thought so. Is there any links to an official ruling that states equip spell cards target?

Thanks again. That is what I've told the gang...but one of the duelist doesn't like it because he has based his deck around warrior-type monsters and power-up equip spell cards. I've have futher explained that his Freed The Matchless General can't be equipped with an equip spell card because of its effect. I have found rulings about this card but not equip spell cards in general. I'm just looking to put a sock in his mouth about me being a know-it-all.....Thats why I am asking for a link. I can't help if his deck has a glaring flaw in it. :D

heh yeah i have the same experience with those people, who resist the ruling cuz it ruins their "awesome" combos
well, ever since i went for a small lv 1 judge title, those kinda arguements dimmed down a bit

Card Text
Negate the effect of a Spell Card that specifically designates this card as a target and destroy it. As long as this card remains face-up on the field, you can add 1 Level 4 or lower Warrior-Type monster from your Deck to your hand per turn instead of drawing 1 card during your Draw Phase. Your Deck is then shuffled.

see it clearly states that designates.
there is not really a link to this since its logic equip cards designate
now if you want more info look at this ruling

The effect of this card will not negate "Creature Swap", "Fissure", "Smashing Ground", "Dark Hole", "Raigeki", or similar Spell Cards that do not target.

also this ruling is interesting

You can activate "Premature Burial" to Special Summon this card from the Graveyard, and then this card's effect will negate and destroy "Premature Burial". "Freed the Matchless General" will not be destroyed since the effect of "Premature Burial" was negated by his effect.

sorry if i got off-topic

just give him this link :D and he will shut up

Thanks Nak 44. I understand this very well. I am just looking for a link explaing equip spell cards to show one of my little duel group that I am correct and he is wrong. May be the links to Creature Swap, Fissure, etc. will satisfy him and he can reconstruct his deck. Thanks again.
