RIP Jacob KT 2/16/06
so I get a letter from Al Franken, it goes as follows:

Dear Person I'm Writing to Ask for Money,
I'm writing to you because I want your help getting rid of Republicans.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Anyway, it continues as follows:

You may have noticed that over the last several years , as this country has lurched sharply to the right, drifted onto the shoulder, careened through the guardrail, and plunged headlong into a ditch, I've become more politically active--as well as more colorful in my use of metaphor.

I've gotten more politically involved because I'm sick and tired of watching radical Republicans mislead us into a costly and tragicallystupid war, sell our government to the highest bidder, ignore the real priorities of real Americans--and then have the nerve to question OUR patriotism and OUR values.

That's why ;ast winter, when my wife Franni and I moved back to my home state of Minnesota, I founded an organization called Midwest Values PAC (MVP). Our mission is to take back Congress and restore the progressive American values I grew up with by providing financial and organizational support to progressive candidates, activists, and organizations.

Thanks to the citizens who have answered our call, MVP has already given away hundreds of thousands of dollars. We are financially backing dozens of progressive Democratic congressional candidates running this year in Minnesota and around the country, focusing on races that will give us our best chance to win back Congress this November. And through our backing of grassroots action groups, we are building a national activist network to support progressive candidates in 2006 and beyond.

It is absolutely crucial that we win back at least one Congress this year, if only so that we can have subpoena power and do the oversight that this rubber-stamp Republican Congress refuses to do. That's why we need to help every progressive candidate with a chance to turn a red seat blue.

He goes on to ask for money and list a few candidate currently being backed. He also mentions his website, www.midwestvaluespac.org

eh.

Politics are always such a touchy issue. Ill only mention that my biggest gripe with the US system is the forced blue/red; black/white; good/bad thing that goes on with the two party system. Neither one appears adequate to do anything consistent to what their policies or constituency mandates. If people are forced to choose between the lesser of two evils, its still an evil.

point is, he asks for money in the funiest way possible and then proceeds to say something that gives you the image of hunting down republicans and killing them. :eek:rcstupid

I couldn't agree with this statement any more. And sadly, I often find myself doing just that.

Eddie Murphy once said, (cleaned up a smidge for CoG) that either way you go, your going to wind up with a foot to your butt. Your just trying to decide who has the smallest foot.

<Does Eddie Murphey laugh>

Similar to that, a wise man once told me:

"Be careful of the toes you step on today. They might be connected to the butt you have to kiss tomorrow."
