Fusion Gate LON-EN098

Fusion Gate
Field Spell

As long as this card remains face-up on the field, a Fusion Monster can be Fusion Summoned without using "Polymerization". The Fusion-Material monsters used in the Fusion Summon are not sent to the Graveyard, but are removed from play.

Today we look at the original Field Spell for fusions. "Fusion Gate" long held an edge over "Polymerization" in that you could keep summoning as many Fusion monsters as you had materials. With the added perk that the Fusions were considered properly summoned this way, it became a preferred choice. It's main downside is that the monsters are removed from play. However, thanks to Invasion of Chaos and the Exclusive Pack (with "Dimension Fusion" and "Return from the Different Dimension"), "Fusion Gate" once again became the stronger way to go. Have your monsters removed from play and bring them back for massive attacks or to fuse another monster.

Granted, cards like "De-Fusion" and "Centrifugal Field" do work better with "Polymerization". But "Fusion Gate" provides a solid alternative along with some nasty field swarming possibilities. In a pure Chaos themed deck, the possibilities are endless.

Throw in a Soul Absorption (also from Invasion of Chaos) and increase your life points by 500 every time those monsters are removed from play, too. So not only do you get a good solid fusion out, but you gain 1000 Life Points for doing it. Heck, even Chaos Greed could come in handy when using Fusion Gate.

One assumes that it is a continous effect that you use in your main phase. Fusion monsters, as I understand it, are summoned to the field with no spell speed (Just like a monster that summons itself with its own effect).

Correct me if I'm wrong.
