Future Fusion / Overload Fusion templting

I'm still a little fuzzy on what about Future Fusion and Overload template out to show weather or not sending / removing monsters is a cost. I've never been very good at recognizing templating when I see it but when explained to me it make sense....I'm SO much more of a blueprint person than a text person!

Help me out here? What designates if these actions are a cost or not?

From the official UDE Advanced Game Play FAQ:

Fusion Material Monsters used in a Fusion Summon are NOT a cost.

It's a general ruling for Fusion Summons, so it doesn't have to be explicitly mentioned in the card text, as long as it's clearly stated that the monsters are used as Fusion Material Monster for a Fusion Summon :)

Thanks Martok, while I knew this I was more looking for some kind of template for such cards. It's so very easy to mistake these effects and the questions seem to be continual as to what is a cost and what isn't. I was just looking for an easy way to explain to players how they could tell the difference consistantly.

Well, unfortunately, some of the new SToN cards have weird templating and are considered to be costs, so it's become even more difficult to explain it.

Yeah, there are a few things goofy about SToN, but most of the cost cards have the template,"By sending [discarding, etc.] ..." Here are two I think you mean, skey (not ot put words in your mouth) that combined might make you go "What?"

Cú Chulainn the Awakened
STON-EN033 (Ritual / Effect Monster)
[This card can only be Ritual Summoned with the Ritual Spell Card, "Emblem of the Awakening". Once per turn, you can remove from play 1
Normal
Monster from your Graveyard. This card gains ATK equal to that Normal Monster's ATK, until the Standby Phase of your next turn.]

*Removing from play a monster from your Graveyard is part of the effect, it is not a cost.

Card Trader
STON-EN045 (Continuous Spell Card)
[Once per turn, during your Standby Phase, you can shuffle 1 card from your hand into the Deck, then draw 1 card.]

*Shuffling 1 card into your Deck is a cost.

These might not be what you mean, but they struck me odd. But, as far as templating goes (John), one has the pattern of "Once per turn you can [cost].... [full stop]... [effect]." The other follows the pattern of "Once per turn you can [where cost would go]...[comma linking to the effect]...then [effect].

At that point, my OCD relaxes, and I'm back to Gin Tana.
