i was told in a tornament that i could not do this and i lost becase of it so i wont to check if i can or cant do this

i had Gaia the Dragon Champion, 3 Spiral Spear Strike out
i had 300LP he had 3300LP and he had 1 monster in face-down def

i had Gaia the Dragon Champion attach a monsterand deal a 1200 damage to his life and he said i can only use one Spiral Spear Strike so i used only 1 not careing for he only had 2100 life points left and i discarded Goldd, Wu-Lord of Dark World and he said i can't special summon it for it is a cost and not a effect and his friends backed him up and the person in charge went with them (i think more becase thay start fight over dules{i know what stupid reson to start fights, right}) and i lost next turn

i just wont to know if what he said is right or was he cheating me to win

In Re: Goldd
These effects only activate if the cards are discarded by a card effect. They will not activate if discarded for the cost of a card like "Lightning Vortex", "Raigeki Break", "Tribe-Infecting Virus", or "Infernal Incinerator". They will not activate if sent to the graveyard by a card effect like "Last Turn" or "Chaos Emperor Dragon - Envoy of the End".

If you have 2 copies of "Spiral Spear Strike", or "Spiral Spear Strike" and a "Gaia the Dragon Champion" equipped with "Fairy Meteor Crush", the damage to your opponent's Life Points is not doubled. (In the case of "Fairy Meteor Crush", you still can draw for the "Spiral Spear Strike" effect.)

I'm not 100% sure but I think you can special summon Goldd but not get his second effect if you discarded it with Spiral Spear Strike but I would wait for someone to confirm this.

i knoe i would not get goldd 2nd effect

and with spiral spear strike i was speaking about the drawing not the points i know that it is battle damage and it can't be doubled unless with out cards like Cross Counter that state it

Discarding for Spiral Spear Strike is part of the effect. Now, since the effect won't double up, he would only have been able to draw 2 and discard 1... but discarding Goldd would have brought it back to the field and you would have been able to attack with it.

Although the pierce damage won't be tripled, the "draw, then discard" effects are mandatory trigger effects that activate separately and form a chain, so you would draw 2 cards, then discard 1, then draw 2 more, then discard 1 more, then draw another 2 and discard another 1.

It's like having 3 copies of "Heart of the Underdog" or 3 copies of "Robbin' Goblin" active on the field.

And Goldd would certainly be Special Summoned to the field, since discarding is the end of the effect and cannot be a cost (and mandatory Trigger effects normally can't have costs anyway).

I don't see why because Battle Damage wasn't tripled that the discard effect wouldn't triple as well. When you have multiple effects trying to inflict Battle Damage, one doesn't cancel out the other, its just one doesn't do anything different from the other. The discard is a secondary Trigger Effect.:

If you have 2 copies of "Spiral Spear Strike", or "Spiral Spear Strike" and a "Gaia the Dragon Champion" equipped with "Fairy Meteor Crush", the damage to your opponent's Life Points is not doubled. (In the case of "Fairy Meteor Crush", you still can draw for the "Spiral Spear Strike" effect.)

Notice, it's not saying you have to pick between Fairy Meteor Crush and Spiral Spear Strike, its simply saying the effect activates. Fairy Meteor Crush neither cancels it out nor overrides it.

Spiral Spear Strike

Text

When "Gaia the Fierce Knight", "Swift Gaia the Fierce Knight" or "Gaia the Dragon Champion" you control attacks a Defense Position monster, if the ATK of that card is higher than the DEF of the Defense Position monster, inflict the difference as Battle Damage to your opponent. If "Gaia the Dragon Champion" inflicts Battle Damage with this effect, draw 2 cards and discard 1 card.

Since the damage doesn't double (triple) up, there wasn't damage done "with this effect" for copies #2 (#3) therefore the draw / discard effect would not take place.

And yet, when you attack using the effects of both Spiral Spear Strike and Fairy Meteor Crush, you get the effect of Spiral Spear Strike anyway. Why does it count that you've used Spiral and not Fairy?

For the life of me I can't remember what list I read it on but it said that in such an event you, the controler of both card effects, get to choose which effect you want used. Perhaps someone knows where I saw that? At this point it's hearsay.
