Getsu Fuhma, IOC-089

Getsu Fuhma
(DARK/Warrior/4/1700/1200)
If a monster that battles with this monster is a Fiend or Zombie-Type monster, destroy that monster at the end of the Damage Step.

Rulings
  1. If "Getsu Fuhma" is destroyed by damage calculation, its effect still activates as long as it battled a monster and damage calculation was performed.
  2. If an attack is negated by "Magic Cylinder", etc., then "Getsu Fuhma"'s effect does not activate.
  3. If "Getsu Fuhma"'s ATK is large enough to destroy "Vampire Lord" by damage calculation, then "Getsu Fuhma"'s effect doesn't activate and "Vampire Lord" won't be Special Summoned, because it was destroyed by damage calculation and not by a card effect.
  4. If "Getsu Fuhma" is destroyed by "Dark Ruler Ha Des", "Getsu Fuhma"'s effect is not activated.
  5. If "Legendary Jujitsu Master" is changed to a Fiend-Type or a Zombie-Type by "DNA Surgery" and is attacked by "Getsu Fuhma", "Getsu Fuhma"'s effect is Step 1 of a chain because the turn player is Step 1, and "Legendary Jujitsu Master" is Step 2. "Legendary Jujitsu Master" resolves first and "Getsu Fuhma" is sent back to the top of the Deck, then "Getsu Fuhma"'s effect resolves and "Legendary Jujitsu Master" is destroyed.
Greetings to all, and welcome to day two of warrior week. Getsu Fuhma the lady ninja (right?) rolls in today as the card, and boy what a card. I've been advocating its use since Invasion of Chaos came out, and by that I mean, since this card came out. If nothing else, this card should at least be in every Warrior side deck, especially now. It's got plenty of support and is Tsuku-proof. Let's move on though, as you can easily see that.

Getsu Fuhma and DNA Surgery are like bread and butter as far as combos with her (right?) go. It essentially lets her destroy any monster at all, which is nice. Otherwise, she has no combos really. The effect is pretty plain and simple.

As far as advantages, that's where things get interesting. With the Zombie-heavy meta, she's a blessing and a curse. She eliminates Spirit Reaper instantly, which is like, a gift from higher powers during an intense duel, but Vampire Lord laughs at her. (That's what D. D. Warrior Lady is for, though) Unless Ruling 3 is apparent. Then there's Ryu Kokki, who is Getsu Fuhma's opposite. If the two battle, both are always destroyed. Aww. How terribly disturbing. Aside from Zombie-ownage, we see that she does the same to Fiends. There aren't too many Fiend decks in my meta, but if there are in yours, replace the above zombies with "Dark Necrofear", "Dark Ruler Ha Des (who actually owns her)", and... other fiends. Side-Deck her, bottom line.

Disadvantages aren't too bad. Since she's a 4-star with 1700 ATK, usually she isn't the worst top-deck you could have. I guess there are times where she's insanely not good, but... I can't think of a factor that would make you not use it.

If nothing else and you have a Warrior Deck, side-decking her is the best tech you can have. Against Zombies and Fiends, she's almost a continuous Exiled Force.

The best decks for her are Side-Decks. Hands down.

Ratings:
Advanced Side-Deck: 4.5/5. I don't give 5's, otherwise... :D
Advanced Main-Deck: 3/5. If you aren't going against Zombies and Fiends, then no. Don't use it.
Sealed: 3/5. Hmm... meh.

Nice review. To add just a little: This card truly works well in a deck that abuses RotA and tWRA. Why? Because, if you keep just one Getsu Fuhma in your deck, she will almost never interfere, but if and when you need one, there she is, searchable 93 ways. Also, I find suiciding Getsu Fuhma into Dark Necrofear to be interesting. That way, DN will have nothing to grab at the end of the turn (BOO!!!!).

Also, with the impending release of the Dark Realm monsters, Getsu Fuhma becomes even more lethal.

Possible side-deck staple in the near future. As always, you did a great job... crayose jemeril.

T.T

I don't know what that means... *cries*

Ahem... Thanks :D She's been in my side-deck ever since I can remember, ever since she came out, no matter what main deck I had. (Dark Magician Deck, she was there, Chaos Dark Paladin Deck *shudder*, she was there, Chaos Warrior Deck *seizure*, she was there, Amazoness Deck, she was mained, then she was there)

Oh come on, I figured you of all people would catch the Homestarrruner reference (think Coach Z, the Joerghb bit).

A shame that she isn't really considered for main deck material. But what a Side Deck candidate she makes. As I said, with the Dark Realmers coming, she's almost a given. In fact, I think she's a must. You may even see her being main-decked in some areas, what with Zombies being so popular, as you mentioned.

Getsu Fuhma is a GUY. He and Ryu Kokki both originated from an old Japanese NES game by Konami called Getsufuuma Densetsu.

Anyway, very nice review for a cool, under-rated card...

I still don't know what crayose jemeril means, and I've seen Jorb like, 20 times... :(

I wasn't sure if it was a guy or girl --- thanks for clearing it up. See, from the picture, I'd guess a guy, but I think somewhere before I read something about it being a girl, so... got confused there. Kind of like the Command Knight debate. (I think Command Knight is girl, but that's just me...)

But yeah, Dark Realm monsters = Getsu Fuhma frenzy. Or Exile of the Wicked frenzy.

good idea!!!!

i use this card and im starting to like it more and more....

ive played the game and i really like it!!!!!
its awesome for a NES game kind of has a Zelda style gameplay

what i find cool is that Ryu Kokki is the final boss and Getsu Fuhma is the main charachter!!!

ull find that significant if u read the yu-gi -oh effects....

Too bad your combo wouldn't work...
  • Waboku applies to all the opponent's monsters during the turn activated, not just one.
  • Waboku does not in any way change the ATK of the opponent's monsters. Waboku reduces the Battle Damage to YOUR monsters and/or your Life Points.
  • Waboku may be activated during any phase of your turn or your opponent's turn (if it had been set in your prior turn or before). However, Waboku cannot be activated in the Damage Step.
  • Waboku does not end your opponent's Battle Phase.
Waboku does not negate an attack.
  • Waboku does not stop Effect Damage.
  • Waboku reduces the Battle Damage to zero for the controller only.
  • Waboku is not a targeted effect.
  • You can still attack your opponent's monsters if your opponent had activated Waboku previously in that turn. Why would you do that? A face down monster is still flipped face up, although it will not be destroyed by the attack.
  • Waboku cannot be chained to the Tribute Summon of Jinzo.
therfore it works!!! The effect of Waboku DOESN'T DESTROY Getsu Fuma it reduces to damage to zero so DARK RULER IS DESTROYED after damage step!!!
