giant turnade question

matrix_sentinal

pro card collector
last i heard this:

if player A has a gravity bind face-up on the field and a messanger of peace face-up on the field, it's players B' turn, player B activates giant turnade, no chains, both g-bind and messanger are destoyed. (because they are already activated).

is this true? or just some story made up by somebody.

and while i'm already typing somethine else came up:

torriental tribute

if player C set's a monster, can player D react with a TT??

last week there was a dutch player vissiting the USA and told me that this legal.

same for cyber jar flipped in main phase all monsters are special summond face down, then a player can acctivate TT?

pleace help me out i'm confused right now

First off if Giant Trunade is activated, all the cards on the opponents side of the field will return to their hand and are not destroyed so next turn they can be played again by that player, as in setting Gravity Bind and activating Messenger of Peace. Their effects Disappear when they leave the field.

You cannot activate Torrential Tribute in response to a set of a monster only if it is summoned as in normal or special summoned or flipped face up. If the player activated Cyber Jar and special summoned monsters in face down defense you wouldn't be able to activate Torrential Tribute unless you summoned any monsters in attack mode and face up. Also I don't think Torrential Tribute works during the battle phase if Cyber Jar was attacked and it's effect activated that way, only if it was manually flipped face up. Hope this helps.

EDIT: Apologies for any errors made by myself, I seem to make quite a few of those

Mazera DeVille is correct in all statements except one. If monsters are special summoned with Cyber Jar in face down defense position (outside of the damage step) then a previously set Torrential Tribute could be activated.

There are a few other instances where monsters are special summoned in face down defense position (Shallow Grave comes to mind) making the timing correct for Torrential Tribute.

A set is not the same thing as a special summon face down however...please take note as it's easily confused.
