Gilford the Legend & Premature Burial

What happens if I tribute summon Gilford the Legend and I have Premature Burial among the equip spell cards in my graveyard?

I think Premature Burial can be equipped to a monster on my side of the field if possible, but it will be immediately destroyed 'cause its target is illegal (but without destroying the equippend monster itself!).

I'm almost sure of this answer, but I want to be completely sure.

PS I gave this answer according to the ruling of Collected Power: if a "Premature Burial" already equipped to a monster is moved to a new monster by the effect of "Collected Power", both "Premature Burial" and the original monster it was equipped to are destroyed (but in this case no monster would be destroyed, 'cause there's no original monster it was equipped to).

PPS And with Snatch Steal?

Gilford the Legend. Thanks. I'll insert it manually here for reference purposes and to facilitate a more accurate answer.

I can find nothing even remotely similar to Gilfords effect to give you an Appropriate answer. The closest effect out there is The Kick Man and he hasn't any rulings down either. Not to mention his effect would be targeting.

This is clearly something that we will have to wait for a ruling on. I highly doubt, though, you will be able to select Premature Burial or Snatch Steal for the effect of Gilford the Legend or The Kick Man. Premature has to have a target in the Graveyard and Snatch Steals target has to be on your opponents side of the field. I doubt it would be allowable to have a way around that.

But does Snatch Steal have to be equiped to your opponates monster?

"Take control of a monster on your opponent's side of the field that is equipped with this card. Increase your opponent's Life Points by 1000 points during each of their Standby Phases."

As it reads it does not have a requirment on what it targets when you play the card. It just says take control of an opponates monster that is equiped with this card. Could you not then equip it to your own monster?

Also when using Gilford's effect do you have to pay the cost for an equip card when you his effect? such as Wicked-Breaking Flamberge - Baou's discard cost?

I dont see why you would have to pay since it is Gilford's effect, and not the effect of the card itself, that allows you to equip it. Although, if his effect takes on the same activation properties as Double Spell does, then it's likely you will have to pay.

Gilford the Legend's effect states "equip as many Equip Spell Cards from your Graveyard as possible". It is not possible to equip Snatch Steal or Premature Burial with this effect, because they would have incorrect targets.

As for the cost equips, take a look at Guardian Elma:

3. You can equip a card with a cost, like "Wicked-Breaking Flamberge - Baou" to "Guardian Elma" with her effect, and you don't have to pay the cost because the Equip Spell Card is not considered "activated".

Following these lines, I'd say you don't have to pay the cost of activation of cards like Wicked-Breaking Flamberge - Baou when using Gilford the Legend's effect. Also, you can't really pay the cost of equip during the resolution of another effect, can you? Which is why Guardian Elma gets away with it (and most likely Gilford the Legend too).
