What cards are good to use for discard costs?

The ones I know of are simple since they're widely used:

Treeborn Frog
Night Assailant (if you have a FLIPper in there you want)

Are there others than these?

Uhhh...Sangan comes to mind....

Basically any card that has an effect that works while it is in the Graveyard (Treeborn Frog, Destiny Hero - Malicious, Destiny Hero - Dasher, Marie the Fallen One, etc.) or works when it is sent to the Graveyard (Manticore of Darkness, Ojamagic, Skull-Mark Ladybug, etc.) would work as a good cost for discarding.

A card like Sangan or Emissary of the Afterlife aren't as good since they have to go from the field to the graveyard to get their effects.

thanks, I forgot about Marie the Fallen One... heh, just put a couple of those in my son's fiend deck for his Lightning Vortex and Raigeki Break the other day.

Thanks for the others... didn't know about them.

How about Roc from the Valley of Haze, Cockroach Knight and Sword of Deep-Seated, if you don't mind seeing them again real soon. Or Volcanic Scattershot and Radiant Jeral (with "The Sanctuary in the Sky"), if you are specifically running those deck types.

Okay, so now it's getting Ludicrous.

Obviously Sinister Serpent was the king, back in its day. I thoroughly loved it and a pair of Night Assailants, but of course, those days are over for good.

If you don't mind going for themes, there's some tricks:
Elemental Heroes can use Ocean on the field to bring a hero back from the graveyard or field to the hand every turn you can just chuck right back to the graveyard for another discard cost.
Volcanics can have a nice little discard/draw engine if you don't mind paying 500 life points each turn, and you have Card Trader out on the field, use Volcanic Shell, when one's in the graveyard, and keep pulling one to your hand, then using Card Trader to shuffle it back into the deck to draw another card you can use or discard. A little costly, but effective.
Or, if you /really/ want to get wacky, run a deck with lots of discards, two Ojamagics, and three of each Ojama, then Heart of the Underdog, and other Noral monsters. It's not exactly effective to win with, but it gives you plenty of discard fodder!

on a different tack.... divine sword phoenix blade is a fav of mine...even thunderdragons ....thin & pay a cost...

Sangan is NOT a good discard for a cost card. Why, cause it doesn't generate +1 when hit from hand to grave.

Discard for "cost" good card. (These are immediate +1, not "potential" +1 like D-hero Disk Commander, or Dasher, or something that wants to be in grave)

Treeborn Frog (You can always special summon this thing as long as no s/t zone)

Divine Sword - Phoenix Blade (remove 2x warrior in grave to get it back)

Thunder Dragon (It's already a +1 in hand cause you discard 1 to get 2 from deck)

Volcanic Shell (You pay 500LP to get another one from deck)

D-Hero Malicious (no brainer, remove one in grave to get another one from deck to field. Currently the most popular discard of choice.)

Night Assailant (if there's a flip monster in grave... yeah)

Ojamagic (hit the grave, get 3x Ojama from deck to hand)

And there's stuff like Sinister Serpent, (ultimate discard +1 king) and the OCG only Dandylion.

More accurately, a good discard cost grants you an advantage of some kind. Not necessarily card advantage. It could be Life Point, tactical or a removal advantage. Essentially, it should benefit you in some way. Just a +1 advantage doesn't mean anything it ultimately is isn't supporting your strategy.

There was an old combo with spear cretins not that its that good in todays game but it is there depending on what your using this for.

There are also other cards that are fueld by the graveyard... Necrofear, Enrise, Norleas, gigantes, rock spirit and those "chaos monsters", Megarock dragon, Harpies, and theres a few others i can't remember,

As for advantage your best bets would probably be Ojamagic, thunder dragons are okay, and phoenix blades.
